So nice to see what your mind gets up to when 'no one' is watching. So pure and beautiful.

Beautiful! Reminds me of a lot of ECM/Enja, Chick's piano improvisation Vol1/2 (Children's Songs maybe), Jarrett etc and a lot of the Norwegian/Swedish jazz of 70s/80s.... I love the sound of that upright piano too.. very mellow and the tuning is great! This is also me at 3am in the morning.. just fooling on my Yamaha grand sometimes with a RC505 looper here in a village in Norway... no neighbours close by so it's a dream. Really wonderful Jaron, you're encouraging us all every video.

That’s one of the things that got me into production in the first place. When I was just playing an instrument it was so much more tedious to be creative, but in a daw, there’s so much more freedom to implement ideas.

My trick is that I'm a producer with a background in jazz & theory lol

Great stuff as always Jaron. When you play I hear a late 1970s jazz fusion which never happened in this universe but in some other one. Love it... great note choices and expression. Also love the Chick Corea Light As a Feather LP in the background... I remember transcribing parts of Chick's Rhodes solo on "Song of the Pharoah Kings" about a year ago... Chick's vocabulary and vibe was incredible..

This video honestly says a whole lot of nothing, why are we separating music theory by genre, sure there are things that are more common in certain places, but those shouldn’t be considered when learning theory, as theory is just an outline of suggestions. It’s not a hard ruleset. Genre theory and music theory are not the same, and we need to stop coinciding them and making it more confusing for new artists to wrap their head around. You’ll use major and minor triads in every genre, you’ll use extensions in every genre, you’ll use voicing in every genre, you’ll use rhythm in every genre, learning stuff that’s geared towards making genres you don’t tend to make will accelerate your progression as a producer tenfold.

Highly recommend to new songwriters/ producers: Do NOT use midi chord packs ! These things seem like quick little hacks to make cool sounding chord progressions - but that's exactly why they should be avoided. Using chord packs will stunt your growth and make you reliant on chord progressions that other people have found for you.

Here is a tip for new producers: Don't let people online tell you how you should make your music. Do whatever the heck you think works and have fun with it, if you wanna learn you will learn eventually. :)
