Crime rate is one of the highest in Canada. Unemployment rate is creeping up, lots of homeless people everywhere, everytime there has been oil price crash there has been a recession and house value just drop. Good luck finding a good high paying job here. Think very very well before moving here. I am myself selling and moving to somewhere better.

I moved to Edmonton and regret it, everything is nore expensive here, gas, food, electronics, insurance, housing, number 1 city in crimes and murders. Guys if you are thinking of moving to edmonton from the east or west , just dont. Move to calgary or winnepeg instead.

I love Edmonton

Better crime rate than nearly any American city...? Roads suck, but the commute is like 30 minutes to work almost no matter where you live and work, compared to 2-5 hours in Toronto... just to GET to work! Drivers suck, but they are more polite than most other places at least.

I've been a lot of places around the world and trust me, Edmontons north south east west grid and numbers is the best I've seen in any city. its the ONLY city I've been to where a stranger can navigate it. you've never lived in Seattle, Montreal or Vancouver.

I've never needed a car to live here. Owned one for a couple of years but sold it last fall because even in winter I rarely ever drove anywhere and it's much cheaper to just use the car share at the few times I need/want to drive. But that depends upon the part of the city you live in.

Crowned land? It's Crown land. You forgot about the mosquitos, filth due to the city dumping dirt/salt on the roads all winter, cracked windshields, photo radar, incessant speed traps, expensive electricity and probably a few more not so great things. On the plus side, cheap real estate, no PST, inexpensive gasoline, good shopping and restaurants, international airport. Born, raised and lived there for 44 years, but been on Van Isle for the past 20. It would be tough to go back, but the cheap real estate is tempting me.
