True. Unfortunately GA has a high daily limit and many are too greedy.

I used to fish Dukes Creek back in the 70's and early 80"s. Right as you turned onto the scenic parkway there was a rough one track that ran along the creek. It was all native stream reared trout...no stocking back then. I don;t recall ever seeing anyone else fishing there..well maybe once I saw a couple people, but not sure they were fishing...maybe just hiking up to the falls. Haven't been there since they blocked out that track and went all Smithgall Woods on me. Used to be probably about 80% rainbows and 20% Browns...and boy were the Browns pretty.

Duke’s used to be a great trout stream but the last two years 22 & 23 it’s starting to suck. Everyone advertises what creek or river they’re fishing in every post or video. All that does is bring on the decline of these streams for fly fishing, bc it’s not other serious fly fishermen or women that ruin them it’s the catch & kill crowd that show up & hammer these streams & deplete the trout population & within a couple of years absolutely ruin the fishery.
@trouttrailfishin5 ай бұрын
It was declining before then. But I agree about stream naming. Only reason I name this stream is the restrictions it has as far as they close over the summer. It CnR only barbless hooks only. Problem is they apparently aren't very vigilant in making sure people are actually practicing good techniques. Also since they do allow spin fishermen I know for a fact they get treble hooks with barbs. I've found them along the stream. Also they get poachers. They need to do like streams up north and have a guy out there fishing who's actually DNR and randomly check people. Hell DNR needs a bigger presence in general.

Nice wild fish in that stream. How far from Cleveland TN? Would like to bring my Sage 7' 3" 2 weight rod!
@trouttrailfishin5 ай бұрын
It is. Used to have a lot of 20 plus inch fish. But had a bad poaching problem. I think they're rebounding some now. It's about 2 hours from Cleveland TN. But you'll need to know you can only fish Wednesday Saturday or Sunday and need a free reservation. Also barbless hooks only.

Those are some nice bass we go to the Tennessee river when it gets hot and will fish it and lakes with streamers till it cools back down. I dont think alot of ppl understand what warner weather does to trout and the stress it creates
