The reason for the short sleeves was to stop their arms from dragging on the floor !! 😂🤣(That's a joke !! 😆)The little internal pocket was as you said for a pocket knife.. by the size of it probably the 'Swiss Champion' ! lol

Awesome ! ..I have a few of these !! ..the backpack is cool too ! ..the story goes that the Czechoslovakian army inherited the original pattern off the Germans stored in their warehouses after WW2 and it ended up being bought by the Swiss Army ..In Switzerland that red works really well so I have heard.. also it used to mess with the night vision goggles of the time.. as red becomes grey using those old 'Noctovisor' The whopping great hood was used whilst wearing a helmet !! the rear pouches were used for medical kit.. food and a knife fork and spoon kit ! The funny clip on the front was for the helmet ! ..awesome !! Wonderful that you have the rank slides.. never seen those before. There are amazing forums online about these TAZ jackets !!

I found multiple military shirts and uniforms in a thrift store or “ukay ukay” I got 2 korean uniforms. A tonghab from Sgt. Kim who belongs from the 3rd army corps in Korean army. Another is granite b from a lieutenant. You can get military uniforms in ukay ukay for $1 to $20 but you have to dig around. I got both for $2-$3 bucks. Ukay Ukay is a thrift store where you need to dig around until you get what you need ans they are mostly used. Philippines 🇵🇭

That sounds pretty cool. One day I'll have to make a trip to one of those countries that has as huge surplus market like Vietnam, Thailand or the Phillipines so I can get some rare uniforms at a cheap price.

I have the field pants. Early pants that aren't ripstop. Literally love them. I want a field jacket now! The material is a "baumwolle" material like mix & seems very similar to my German flecktarn jacket in material... very similar materials actually almost identical weave & feel, weight. Belgium material maybe being a touch lighter.

been trying to hunt some of these down myself, did the same as you've described, but the last few months seem to be absolutely horrible for stock availability - sizes like 27.5 are too small. @@GearReview23 yeh, if you do go and buy any, they should be **cheaper** than these paratrooper boots you've bought. They also have their own history of designs, the most recent pair having identical soles to the shoes in this video, and the older ones having goodyear welted black soles. Having been issues with 68 pattern jackets in the 70s and early 80s I was a bit surprised when some years ago I ordered a much later 84 style DPM jacket to spare my Barbour jacket when renovating a new house and garden. I wondered where the buttons had gone, what was with the Velcro, and why the hood had a copper stiffener. So thanks for explaining the change so clearly. Prefer the old style at least for present tasks. And the pre 68 olive drab jacket was very nice too.

Try German Ebay. Ebay.de or eBay Kleinanzeigen. They won't be too hard to find there, but you will have to find someone from Germany willing to purchase them for you and then pay them to ship to them to you. That's what I did.

Nice Vid. The inside zippered pocket is for a soldier's papers and documents. The inside pouch across the back is for a blanket. This whole M70 suit seems to be a very Swiss idea, just look at how much stuff they stuffed into a Swiss army knife.

Yeah the arm length on those combat smocks. I have tried a few on and the arms are way too short. I have a pair of the combat trousers from the same date and they are the most heavy duty trousers of all time. I use them on canoe expeditions, they are super hard wearing, heavy fabric, great for rough country conditions and working around the camp.

Please note the fact you have this a criminal act took place, it is illegal to sell or have this in your possession in Ireland and old kit is supposed to be destroyed after being handed into the stores and CQMS etc..... It's illegal to have military issued items, which you can't definitely tell these are from this video. A company called Arktis makes replica clothing which isn't illegal to own. Plus he's in America, Irish law doesn't apply.

The 84 pattern (not P84) looks darker because they changed the material to 'modal' which absorbs the inks more and makes the material look darker. They actually changed to this material partway through the 68 pattern so later 68 pattern smocks are the same dark camo as the 84 pattern. The pocket on the right sleeve takes a field dressing.

What I'm getting it's anti terrorist. And the pictures I've seen have the same pattern. Mine though is darker than yours. Yours seems brighter than mine. Also my shoulder straps are camo and not just canvas like yours. Shoulders are for I thinkkkkkk body harness or extra gear. mines also not quilted by the shoulders. I think the stitched loops are for foilage, small branches, grass, rags, etc for additional natural camo.. The big gasmask pouch is useless.. Better to carefully unstitch the pouch material and make a new pouch or add some matching camo pouches. Best part is you can modifiy your vest to the way you like it. 👍
