I’m not 100% sure to be honest I think it keeps the rice compact. This is the only method that has worked for me.

Never use metal in the speedi plus if you put a bit of oil on the bottom then the rice on top it wont stick to the bottom.

Hey! Thanks for your comments! I don’t normally use metal in the Speedi or foodi. But this pot got scratched so I’m waiting on a new pot so I just grabbed a fork but u are 100% right!

I made rice recently but steamed for 12 minutes. It was more like couscous. Threw it away. I’ll give this timing a go and hopefully it’ll be a better result

@@Emmyprepper About the only thing it doesn't do is pressure cooking,which I don't mind,as I have an ancient stove top pressure cooker I pull out occasionally when I feel like a stew.

Hey! It’s the same as the foodi in a lot of ways but doesn’t have the pressure function (but there are ways around that) It has a speedi meal section that can have all you meal done n dusted in 15 mins! Your rice, potatoes etc on the bottom and your protein cooking on the top rack at the same time. I also like the speedi’s shape. You can fit more pans etc in there. Hope that helps 💚

You can make it in a regular pot just the same! Just cook the pasta al dente so it’s not over cooked at the end!

I do chicken leg quarters with boxed scalloped potatoes all the time, but I do heat the water first and pour it into the bottom of the speedi with the potatoes and seasoning in it and then I put the tray in on top of the potatoes and not up on the wing holders. I find it will cook the chicken too much if you do that so I put the tray directly over the potatoes. As for nasty Mac and Cheese, I don't have a hog to feed it to so I don't cook it.
