How can I effectively manage, identify and track assets without serial numbers (like 100 keyboards in different branches) without physically labeling each asset because for me labeling 100 of keyboards manually is not optimum solution if such case repeat again. So how to handle this situation and ensuring accurate inventory and traceability across multiple branches?

I use Servicenow exclusively in my role and it seems a bit conflicting to advertise and celebrate the capabilities of the platform yet shun customization.

Not shunning customization at all - just ensuring that we are doing 'customizing' the correct way. Over the 13 years I've worked with the platform, I've seen bad customizations that make the platform unusable, and become a major barrier for innovation. Our intent is to ensure that customizations are done with the necessary oversight to ensure they don't conflict with OOB capabilities and interactions between other modules in the platform, and to ensure that customizations aren't created in lieu of an OOB configurable capability - which is where training comes into the picture.

You don't need to do anything special. (Create and) switch to the Update Set you want to track the Decision Table in. Make any changes and save. That's enough for it to be part of the current update set. If you are using the draft authoring feature and want the decision table to be available to be called from a flow, subflow or code snippet, you need to also publish the Decision Table. -LH

we have recently installed workplace indoor mapping and other wsd plugins in our company instance. We are not able to see the map data while trying to create a building. what could this be? could it be a firewall which might be restricting the communication between map api with the instance? or could it be something else?

Make sure to check the logged in user working the playbook has the (ACL) permissions to read/upload attachments for the record. If you're (for example) using the Update Record activity in your playbook, check the UI Layout Tab and set "Attachments -> Attachment Source" to "Related Record" or "Parent Record" to determine which attachments to show. When testing the playbook, some UI features are not available when using the Playbook Preview, instead test it from the workspace it's being worked in. I feel like there are a couple things which may have gotten confused during the Acuity diagram portion. My interpretation is the the layers from top to bottom are: 1) Business Application 2) Application Services 3) Application CI's (Tomcat, Apache, DB instances, etc.) 4) Server CI's The fact that some of the application CI's are listed as "Acuity Connect Prod XYZ Server" is more of a descriptor, but they would in reality be Web/Application server application / Database instance CI's and are contained within their respective Application Services. I may be incorrect, but if not I wanted to try can clarify some of the comments around that section.

Hello, I have a scenario where depending on a few field values the number of approvals may differ and they need to be sequential. For instance, if the value of field Amount is >= "50000" I need to send sequential approvals to group 1, 2, 3 and 4 but if it is < "50000" I only need to send it to groups 1 and 3. I have created a decision table to handle to which groups it should be sent, but I am having trouble finding a good solution to handle the sequential approval in my flow. I'd like to avoid having lots of nested ifs and else ifs, any suggestions?

Hi Miguel, one option to explore is to work with subflows. One to do two approvals, and one for all four. You can reuse the same decision table in each subflow to determine the approvers or decide to split your decision table into two. One to determine which subflow to run based on the amount (in case the amount changes, keep it in a decision table so you don't need to change the flow every time the value changes), and a second decision table for the approvers, in case they depend on other conditions (category, business service, priority, etc.) than just the amount. 3:42 - It's important that we do map the right tables to the right subscription so we know which users are entitled to use them and which ones are not entitled to use them. We don't wanna pay for people who aren't using them and we wanna make sure we are paying for people who are using them.

Hi John, make sure to add an action to your custom activity and that the user has permissions (roles, ACL, etc.) to update the record. If you're using the flow data table and set the assigned to or assignment group, only users matching that condition would be able to update the record. -LH

I have a scenario where I have a catalog item with a multi row variable, where each one has an approver. The approvals need to be processed in parallel, and tasks created for each MRV afterwards if approved. I cannot use Do the following in Parallel, because I do not know how many approvals there will be (needs to be dynamic). I cannot For Each, because the Approval waits for a response before going to the next approval. What solution could I use in this case?

Hi there! I would use a combination of tools here. First, you can use this pattern to get the Requested Item approved. www.servicenow.com/community/developer-forum/subflow-to-create-approvals-from-results-of-mrvs/m-p/2627308 Next, you can use a for each to create the catalog tasks with the 'wait for completion' box unchecked, then further down the flow do a do the following until with a look up records to check if all catalog tasks have been completed. Add a little timer to that loop (something like 5 minutes or half an hour, depending on the use case) so it won't check back-to-back.
