Respect the dedication. There is no way I'd have torn it down a third time. Edit: Omg, 4. 😟

LOL re: oil changes. Many European cars have a first change at 20,000 miles - but watch servicing at 5-7 years is a great idea. Don't wait for something to happen.

i wish I could send you my grandfather's Rolex but on account of him never having one! I watched this video 2 times (at 1.25 speed) and it had me the entire time! I do not even know HOW this was recommended to me but you earned a sub and a like and a share...

I got a smaller one! Part of a cuff link. Until a few minutes ago I thought it was a quartz movement. Nope. It has a main spring. I'd tell you the watch maker, but I need a magnifying glass to read it.

Wow! First time I’ve seen a watch maker actually do this. What a skill. Gotta know what you’re doing here.

C’me on Marshall, you took one look into the insides of this watch when you opened it up and you knew right then that it had a broken main spring and not much else wrong with it. It looked so pristine that it couldn’t be anything more than that. Coupled with your knowledge about blue metal from the late ‘40s early ‘50s. Dig down to the main spring, replace it and away you go.

How do i get in contact with you? I have a watch that every watchmaker is refusing to work on cause they say it's too difficult, but i really love that watch so I'd like to see if it can gain life again someday

The piece you cut off can be made into a keeper. I do this on Leather ZULU straps. I also remove all hardware except the buckle. Then I make two leather keepers from the removed section and so I can use the strap as a single pass with the buckle and keepers under the wrist like a normal strap. To make the two keepers you need to cut the leather lengthways, measure it, skive it, glue it, and add a stitch or two.

Hi Marshall, Great channel. I’ve spent many enjoyable hours watching you disassemble/describe/reassemble watches. So very enjoyable. Question: Have you ever worked on jump hour watches? I have a Sicura (circa early 70’s) that could use your skills. I’d love to see you get in inside and bring it back to life!

Not everyone has watch knowledge like you. Some random normal dude was probably just trying to get his watch to work again and couldn’t afford to take it to a repair shop. Let it go, not everyone is you.

What gives a feeling of pleasure in an especially mechanical watch is this autonomous and protected miniature mechanism that we carry everywhere we go. A small time counter that shows the time and has a beat. One of the most valuable and useful inventions of human technology.

You would be more likely to spot Sasquatch than to meet somebody who has an encyclopedia of knowledge in his head of the most niche industry in the jewelry manufacturing/Restoration world. This guy is nuttier than squirrel turds when it comes to his craft and his attention to detail, and in this day and age is unheard of. His narration skills are also second to none. THIS, IS THE MOST INTERESTING MAN IN THE WORLD.... thank you sir for entertaining us all.✊🏽💯🙏🏽

Very interesting to see Bakelite here. In my experience, Bakelite has proven to be fairly tough. It was used in everything from jewelry, to clocks, radios, AK47 magazines (I actually have one of these) and all sorts of other things. The old commercials when it first came out showed them suspending a car using a single rod of Bakelite. Crazy stuff. Going beyond that, I find it fascinating that they used Radium for the lume. Is that sort of thing even safe to wear? Great vid and hats off to anyone who can work with such precision. Well done sir.
