Iv done Ha ling A couple of times. Its pretty nice. First and second lookout is pretty simple. The last leg if the trip is just all stairs stairs stairs. Once at the top its a great view. Only think is, it can get really cold and windy at the top. Great training mountain

My partner and i are visting from Australia in August!, hiring a van similar to yours! Out of curiosity where did you shower? I see the parks don't have showers
@caitlinlaurent7 күн бұрын
That's so exciting! Best of luck for the trip. The campsite we stayed at near Victoria had plenty of showers. I also remember the campsite we stayed at in Tofino had showers too. I know a lot of campsites don't have showers though so a lot of the time we would just swim in lakes as well. We used iOverlander to find places to sleep and shower too :)

If I’m boarding it’s always lake Louise or Nakiska if I don’t feel like driving (from cochrane) if I’m skiing with a buddy that’s comfortable in delirium dive and Wild West I’ll go sunshine, majority of time I’ll do LL those, just so much terrain and way less flat crap to think about
@caitlinlaurent20 күн бұрын
LL is great! I have never been to Nakiska but I imagine its a great close to Calgary/Cochrane option. Its nice we have multiple very different mountains all so close though :)

is it baby stroller friendly?
@caitlinlaurentАй бұрын
To get to the top of Standish Mountain you need to ride a chairlift so I'm not sure how a stroller would work in that situation! A chest carrier is probably the best option but I would recommend reaching out to Sunshine Village to see what they recommend. The pathways are mostly loose gravel as well. I hope you're able to find a way to make it work! It's a beautiful place to visit.

It’s absolutely horrific that you can’t drive there anymore , now you have to take a 100$ bus instead of driving your own vehicle for free. Simple solution should have been expanding the road network.
@caitlinlaurentАй бұрын
I disagree, "expanding the road network" would result in such unnecessary destruction in what is one of the most beautiful places and national parks. Yes, not being able to drive and go on your own schedule does suck. We first visited when you could still drive so I get it. BUT we also know exactly how chaotic the traffic was because of the mass tourism and it was a nightmare. There are plenty of different bus companies you can take and the Parks Canada shuttle starts as low as $7 so I would argue there are still affordable options that make this area accessible to everyone.

So many good trails!! The trail to rock isle lake is my favourite and you can do as much or as little as you like. I would plan a half day to a full day in the area. The lovely guides will explain your hiking options when you get up there as well :)

Hey thanks for the video! Really informative!! I'm wondering - did you need a car? Did you buy a car? Thoughts?
@caitlinlaurentАй бұрын
I'm so glad it was helpful! If you go onto my channel theres a video about needing a car in banff, its aimed more at tourists but you might find some helpful info in there. In short, you don't NEED a car but we did have a car the whole time and for the few weeks we didn't have it (parents were using it!) we felt kinda trapped. If its your first season though I think you would be fine without one for winter as your still excited about banff things and most external things are likely closed. Summer is when you want to be out exploring the most! I hope that helps :)

Hey Caitlin, love all your content! I'm planning on working this Canadian winter but won't be in Australia before heading to Canada. If the country I'm in has a Canadian Embassy can I do my biometrics there and organize the rest of the visa online. Cheers :))
@caitlinlaurentАй бұрын
So exciting for you!! We did our whole process in Australia with the help of The Working Holiday Club so I know how that all works but i don’t know enough about applying from outside your home country to give advice on that! Hopefully there is someone online who has done it that way who can provide advice. Otherwise The Working Holidah Club know everything so you could always reach out to them :)

Hey Michael, that’s so exciting for you both!! We were really lucky and found the staff accommodation we had as a couple to be perfect. If you head to my Instagram (@caitlinlaurent) there is a video of our little apartment/room in my Canada Q&A highlight! @@caitlinlaurent Perfect! I’ll definitely check it out. We’ve been trying to figure out the best way to get started, and it seems staff accommodation is probably the best way to go. At least for the first season 😁 Hope you guys are enjoying Central America 🙌

@caitlinlaurent2 ай бұрын
There was no restriction on how many or few hours per week you could work on the open work permit! When we were in staff accom it was approximately $440 each a month but I know this varies a lot depending on where you work and who for. Hope that helps :)
