0:29 LSD does not have any addictive properties. It is, in fact, anti-addictive, less so than cannabis. It is not possible to take LSD in a dose sufficient to produce a moderate response, and then take it again the next day, owing to the 5-HT binding properties, and its half life. The effects produced by a 500mcg dosage would not be replicable, if one was to take that dosage a week later. The binding affinity and the lengthy half life, the effects themselves, and thousands of other psychopharmacological properties, the route of ingestion, and too many other things to list here, render it anti-addictive. To compare it to heroin is obscene. It is less harmful even than cannabis. It has medicinal uses, primarily in aiding mental health, it has neuroprotective properties, it has physically protective properties: it stimulates nitric oxide release and so is a vasodilator. Sorkin, an avid user of LSD and psilocybin should know better than that.

The prelude to one of the very best sequences in the entire series: the actual funeral scene, interspersed with the "Little Drummer Boy" being sung by the boys' choir in the White House. Powerful stuff!

Honestly, the chemistry between these characters has been on point since day one. Why the writers didn't pair them up is beyond me. The show had its different fun relationships. Josh and Donna was the chaotic funny one, Will and Kate was the adorable one, and Toby and CJ would have been the serious one.

This scene is great on so many levels but the one thing I wanted to point out is the "roles" the characters play. There are 2 people in this scene however they are playing 4 different people without a change of costume. Millie first plays the Surgeon General then Ellie's godmother while Jed initially plays the President of the United States then Ellie's dad. The transition of roles comes when Millie says "Jed!" at 1:40.
@thomash.schwed366215 күн бұрын
I agree with you except that I think the transition came when Jed said: “My God, ‘King Lear’ is a good play.”

I would like to make a few points if I could 1. Other than Dr. Bartlett and his priest,. nobody called him Jed in the oval Leo, did it a couple times upstairs. But never in the oval. 2. People in power need someone willing and close to them to call them on things. Maybe nobody else does, but even as a well qualified surgeon general, Millie put it on the table with her friend. That does make a difference in powerful positions. 3. I would dearly love to hear from women who serving the uniform. Can we take the skirt and tie off and put them in the same uniform that everybody else wears. No I am not exhibiting prurient feelings towards the surgeon general, I would just like to see her and every other female officers stand in the same uniform. I happily invite constructive comments on that.

It's always wonderful to have an employee who steps up whenever we fall down. if you've ever had one who failed and remained at status quo, you know what i mean. then there's two idiots in the room. that said, i never had siblings growing up, but when Donna insists, "you have a meeting", i recognize that face.

the vice presidency was vacant at that time, Hoynes had been forced to resign due to a scandal, thats why the next person in line of succession after invoking the 25th was the Speaker of the house

Ughhh why doe they all take it so personal & overly emotional seriously. The only time toby acts like a rational human especially in this situation is when he finally admits bartlett needs to step aside... even though toby is as much against it as josh. They are no way affected by the events of what happened yet they all act like their parent died..... Real people can put aside emotions & power through nurses & doctors do it all the time deal with the now & then when you have a chance in private or at home alone you can act like something happened to a family member yet that isnt a family member or that you know what it's like when it is a family member. That's another thing they all act like it's happening to their child or parent which it's not & acting like they know what the family is going through. Its like someone going though their kid being killed in combat yet people who have never been to combat or experienced that let alone experienced losing someone to combat trying to relate to the people who did.

Sloppy narrative. The single most perishable commodity in DC is secrets. In a year, or a month, or a week, the existence of the secret shuttle would leak from somewhere. A WH staffer, a Pentagon paper pusher, a disgruntled USAF senior sergeant or a janitor in some comm center. Once out, Bartlett's legacy implodes to 3 words, "Three Dead Astronauts." That could never be an acceptable outcome.
