Cut the loose end that will thread through the buckle at a 45 degree angle instead of straight across. It makes it much easier to thread.

Incorrect in general the mark on the top , say 33.4 is the tare weight of the bottle. Has nothing to do with the capacity in litres. For example....On filling an empty bottle it will hold say 19kg of gas plus the weight of bottle at 33.4 weight full 52.4. Do not get confused. Right to say do not fill past 80%. Be very careful and overfilled propane cylinder may deliver liquid gas and be very dangerous.

You didn't use the Ullage bleed valve !!!!! its dangerous what you are telling people this is the issue with You Tube a little knowledge is more dangerous than none as it gives confidence without knowing all the information! First off it can be perfectly safe to refill gas cylinders but know what you are doing, i am not going to tell anyone how to fill there bottle but will state that the ullage valve, thats the little hole you see on the lower side of the Tap controler at 0.49 this is to be undone to allow liquid to escape once gas is evident from the Ullage Valve then the bottle will be at 80% as the ullage valve has a tube down to the 80% level. You cant just fill using the pump as a guide as you have no idea of residual liquid in the tank! People don't confuse a regular cylinder with a gaslow refillable a gaslow refillable has its own shutoff valve so stops you overfilling it! (gas experience of 35 Years)

Absolute joke this, the Garage has an adapter, and then when he’s filling it and empty he’s recording it with presumably with his phone he’s not even earthed the cylinder either, pleb Flogas would love to see there branding all in this 7mins of lunacy 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Calor Gas Limited has issued a safety warning following reports of unlawful and dangerous filling of its portable LPG cylinders at self-service autogas refuelling sites. Calor has become aware of increasing numbers of people using adaptors to fill LPG cylinders from autogas dispensers. This practice is not only unlawful but also highly dangerous as there is a strong probability of leaks occurring and cylinders being overfilled. The filling of LPG cylinders is potentially an extremely hazardous activity, and safe filling requires appropriate expertise and training of operators, use of certified equipment, safe working procedures and a safe environment. Automotive LPG filling stations incorporate safety measures to ensure the safe refuelling of vehicles but they do not include all of the necessary safety elements required for filling LPG cylinders. Furthermore, commercial LPG is supplied in two forms - propane and butane - and filling a cylinder with the wrong type of LPG can lead to serious appliance malfunction and can cause safety devices to fail. Members of the public who refill LPG cylinders using autogas refuelling equipment not only create a serious risk to their own safety and the safety of others, but are also contravening UK Health and Safety Regulations, Weights and Measures Regulations and Consumer Safety legislation. These Regulations impose important legal duties on the site operator to ensure the safety of both their employees and members of the public. In the event of an accident as a result of this type of activity, the site operator could be liable to prosecution. Calor is therefore urging autogas refuelling site operators to be vigilant and take appropriate action to prevent the unlawful and potentially dangerous re-filling cylinders in this manner.

I was going to make a few sarcastic comments but they’ve already been covered. Oh well. You’ve filmed yourself breaking the law. What the fuck are you doing with a mobile phone anywhere near a petrol station ? I’ve been doing this ten years. This end, no this end. Hand tight, with a spanner. Stamped weight is tare (empty) weight, not capacity, and definitely not how much gas was put in it last time” there’s a big fucking clue on the bottle telling you what the capacity is. And lastly, 5 years ago it was cheaper to get an exchange bottle delivered than what you paid for the gas, the adapters and the fuel you used getting there and back. No image of your vehicle but I hope you transported the bottle standing up and secured. If you’re going to fill your own bottles, do it at home where you won’t kill anyone else if it goes tits up.

So wrong, encouraging people to refill exchange gas bottles. It's a dangerous exercise in the wrong hands! Also your suggestion that the 20% is for expansion is also wrong. You fill with Liquid. The liquid needs space to gas-off, which it does until a specific pressure in the bottle is achieved, then stops gassing off until you reduce the pressure by using the gas. If it was filled to the brim you would initially get liquid out, that expands at very high velocity when the pressure is released. It would be a flame thrower if it ignited.

It is illegal to fill any cylinder that you don’t own and by own I mean you bought it outright. It is also important that the cylinder is in test. The next question I would be asking if this all goes wrong whose insurance is paying out for the property damage and any potential loss of life. There is a reason these things have property of and only to be filled by ……………. Because they have the insurance the proper equipment and the legal responsibility to ensure the thing is in test.

Somewhere on the valve guard ( the steel surrounding the valve) will be stamped the history of the cylinder and the testing it has undergone, if the last test was more than ten years ago it is illegal to refill the cylinder, Flogas should have warning signs stating this and the fact that cylinders should only be filled by weight and not by liquid levels, the tare weight of the cylinder was 33.4 kg so the maximum fill would be 33.4 + 47.2 = 80.6 kg, the other safety related issue is that he was carrying the cylinder laid on its side which is a very hazardous method of transport. They should always be carried in the upright position and secured so they cannot come loose as a result of the relative movement of the carrying vehicle. I suggest he spends a little time on the internet reading the LPGA information on the safe handling, storage and transport of lpg , it won’t hurt the site management to read it also.

So is lpg propane or butane? Did that cut off automatically?
@andrewwheeldon3027
@andrewwheeldon3027 Жыл бұрын
In the Uk it is mainly propane, in Europe it is usually a mix. when I had LPG powered vehicles I would often have to adjust my mixture ratio after filling up abroad. butane is more energy dense and heavier but liquifies at a higher temp. If you get a butane bottle to a little below freezing it will give off zero vapor and insufficient pressure where as a propane bottle will work fine at -20 or so.

I started to do this a few years ago at the one and only filling station local to me with an LPG pump. It went ok for about 14 months but then one day they stopped me!! The manager came out and said it was illegal and pointed at a big notice saying portable gas cylinders were not permitted to be refilled. There are no alternative stations close enough to make it viable, so I can no longer do this. I never had a problem though and it was saving me a fortune on running my gas central heating in a rural location with no mains gas. Don't know how my gas cylinder supplier can justify charging more than a forecourt price for gas, and they are now even charging a market volatility charge and for delivery! They used to deliver free. So it now costs me almost £100 for a 47KG cylinder, which can last as little as a week in very cold weather! This is in the west mids area of the UK.

Is the unsafe and illegal practice of refilling an everyday exchange only (Calor) Gas bottle worth being taken to court or even worse injuring or killing yourself and those around you, especially when there is a safe and legal self-refillable product available? To sum it up, refilling exchange gas bottles (Calor, Flo-gas, Countrywide, BP and any exchange only gas bottle) which are not designed to be refilled by the general public at LPG fuel stations and petrol/gasoline forecourts is like driving your car along a motorway without touching the steering wheel - It’s that dangerous for you and people around you and at some point the worse is going to happen. Buying a fill system off eBay or various web shops that enables you refill a Gas bottle from Calor gas, Flo-gas and other exchange bottle companies with pump Autogas, that it was never designed to do so is not only illegal and a prosecutable crime but it is also dangerous to you and those around you, so why risk everything to save a few £'s self-refilling an exchange bottle illegally when there are legal and safe refillable bottles like the GAS It (www.gasit.co.uk/), SafeFill (www.safefill.co.uk/) & Gas BANK (www.gas-bank.com/) or other brands that are fully covered by UK and EU regulations and can be refilled anywhere legally and most importantly safely. *It’s a no brainer!* We've all seen the filling adaptors on eBay and some web shops that allow you to refill gas bottles that were never designed to be end user refilled, as they were only to be returned and exchange for a new full one, but did you know it’s actually an illegal practice that people are being prosecuted for here in the UK and it’s not just by Calor Gas. You are also contravening: • UK Health and Safety Regulations, • Weights and Measures Regulations & • Consumer Safety legislation the list goes on. These Regulations impose important legal duties on the site operator (the petrol/gas station) to ensure the safety of both their employees and members of the public and even the site owners can be prosecuted and have trading licenses removed. The HSE (Health and Safety Executive) has even stated in writing that “LAs (local authorities) should consider issuing a prohibition notice if their inspectors discover a site which allows members of the public to refill gas cylinders”. Which means the forecourts and gas stations are risking prosecution and not only you if you were caught or if an accident was to happen. You also risk having your vehicle, caravan, home or business or life insurance invalidated if you are found to have self-refilled a bottle illegally and then something goes wrong - is it worth it for a few quid? People assume wrongly that the reason why the gas bottle companies says don't do it is simply because the Gas companies are losing money when you self-refill one of their bottles and that’s its sole reason, that is a factor they are losing trade, however the most significant point is that it is deadly if not done in accordance with strict rules and practices. The reason is that it’s a very dangerous practice in many ways, and every time you do it you not only risk yourselves but everyone around you during the filling, use and storage of that illegally refilled bottle, but the bottom line is you have to be aware that whilst these self-refilling adaptors are readily available you need to know the refilling practice is illegal and silly especially with the legal and safe alternative approved refillable bottles. Let me add that by using the name 'Calor Gas bottles', it is a term associated with all exchange type gas bottles like a Hoover is to vacuum cleaners but the bottom line is ALL exchange type gas bottles were only ever designed to be refilled by the company who actually still owns them ( you as a user never own a Calor bottle, they loan it/them to us ) Self refilling is dangerous and ILLEGAL in the UK * publishing.energyinst.org/__data/assets/file/0005/547862/WEB-VERSION-Red-Guide-18.10.18.pdf (see pages 61 & 62) * www.calor.co.uk/news-and-views/calor-warns-about-unlawful-filling-of-lpg-cylinders-at-autogas-refuelling-sites * www.phamnews.co.uk/big-fine-for-illegal-filling-of-lpg-cylinders/ This is a criminal act in the UK. You risk your life and that of others ie the public, you are not permitted to refill a named (surcharge) gas bottle in the UK unless it is a specified refillable type ie. GAS It (www.gasit.co.uk/), SafeFill (www.safefill.co.uk/) & Gas BANK (www.gas-bank.com/) or other well known SAFE & LEGAL brands. Just for an example, here is a bottle 11Kg from SafeFill (carbonzorro.com/en/products/gasbank-single-11-kg-lpg-refillable-gas-cylinder-din-g12-klf-inlet-outlet-14.html) for the price of a new bottle from a named Calor type supplier and you get to refill it yourself legally and safely. Or there is a more expensive AluGas bottle 14Kg on ebay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225183700445?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=225183700445&targetid=1814673647942&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9046521&poi=&campaignid=19089547614&mkgroupid=142438599285&rlsatarget=pla-1814673647942&abcId=9303859&merchantid=115186946&gclid=Cj0KCQiA54KfBhCKARIsAJzSrdoIowIp6omForiRNTgu32XZo4ZDy_tIoIJ_1LV9wYGbIEYaqV6J704aAsZjEALw_wcB It is a no brainer.
