It's like the combine mix of both ZORRO & ROBIN HOOD.

Kids are watching so they dont show the smugglers crashing the ships and killing all on board first😮. I truly enjoyed the movie for my first time. Best live Disney❤

Ah! The 'thrilling days of yesteryear!' I was a kid when Zorro and Toronado raced across the screen in my living room! One of my first TV heroes, along with... Kirby Grant as...(can you guess?)

I didn't see this when it was first aired but I love it! I live on the Kent coast, close to beaches that still have smugglers caves & tunnels in the chalk cliffs, so researched a lot of the history of smuggling in the UK. The majority of it occurred in Kent & Sussex & the first smuggling took place in the 13th century, when wool was smuggled from Romney Marsh to Europe, avoiding paying tax at ports on the South coast. The Scarecrow appears to give a very accurate portrayal of the constant battles between excise men & entire towns & villages involved in the trade, battles that lasted until the early 19th century!

The only slight error is Dr Syn's reference to, "St Margaret's Bay, this side of Dover". As St Margarets Bay is the other side of Dover from Dymchurch, I wonder if they meant St Mary's Bay, which is just a couple of miles from Dymchurch? Excellent film nonetheless!

I love the touch that after delivering the Scarecrow's warning in the church, Vicar Syn questions, "What authority has this man among you to give such orders?"

This was made back before Disney became”DEIsney “ . When they had writers, directors & actors with genuine talent. So they were able to portray far superior morality tales than today!!

The night trial scene in the barn is very memorable and impressively frightening. The pistol for a gavel, the masked jurors in the box, the noose. Wow. Still compelling sixty odd years later.

I never get tired of watching this. A highlight of my trip to England many years ago was staying at The Mermaid Inn in Rye which was the hangout of the real "Gentlemen." We drank our after dinner coffee in a room called "Dr. Syn's Chamber.

I really like this movie when it came in the 60s. Although the screen version of title song did not have the cackling laugh, which I was glad they added in the TV episodes.

In a further comment, McGoohan's Scarecrow is so damn bad that you couldn't top it if you had Batman and Superman in the same film. Which we have!! No hero for right will ever top this protector of victims of the crown. All the kings horses and all the kings men went stumbling and tumbling again and again!! Even better, the good Vicar by day never harmed a single adversary. Just scared the living shit out of them!! As for his performance, McGoohan shines in a way singularly unique compared to his Magnum Opus as Longshanks in Braveheart. His Scarecrow doesn't butcher the misguided that are out to hang him and his men. While not so good King Longshanks threw his own son's boyfriend out a castle window!! This speaks to this fabulous actors range and power. And why Dr Syn Alias the Scarecrow is the greatest good guy, bad guy film since the invention of film.

I love watching this too. I would always go outside and play like I was the Scarecrow, even trying to do his laugh as I was running as fast as I could like I was riding a horse. Those were great days, I missed them.

If you look into Walt Disney you will notice that he was one of a group of satanists who founded NASA along with Crowley devotee Jack Parsons,Rev L Ron Hubbard and Werner Von Braun. Disney also has very much in common with Jimmy Savile and 1000s of children go missing at Disney parks every year.

white cliffs of dover. I think this movie could be revived in cartoon or interesting young people but its a bit dark. I noticed a few dark disney films in this time frame. I guess I was so used to the color cartoon disney over most other visuals of disney theme.

Every kid in the mid-1960's loved this movie. Something about the atmosphere, the scarecrow's frightening mask, the galloping horses made it unforgettable.
