Thank you for doing such good research on Calypso Music. One of the bands used by Albert Ribeiro aka Lord Hummingbird was Frankie Francis and Steve Samuels from Trinidad and Tobago West Indies back in the day. Gemma Ribeiro

Danny I was there at Semp Studio when this was recorded. Great time over two days. Great musicians .Pelham Goddard Sergeant Philip , Bouchard, Art himself on base , John , mr. Davidson .the guitarist break his strings a few times , don’t remember his name at the moment. He played with Ed Watson . Great experience. Melody was not there. He was represented by his producer Granville Straker 👍👍👍

Every year right as carnival done, I am reminded once again that the Lord Blakie is the very best calypsonian ever.

Muchas gracias! I never heard this one. I am unfamiliar with the name Cecil Fitt. The music of the early Calypsonians had a distinct sound.

and very loud in the mix. I would have liked to hear more from the actual band leader! another case of unusual microphone placement by Cook. there is a similar recording of Johnny Gomez' band "Madinina" where Cook (or other engineer) allows the bongo man to drown out the rest of the band. assuming these were single-mic "live" recordings there was no way to fix it later on.
