Can brown sugar or maple syrup be used instead of molasses? Dont have any at the moment but i think 100% maple could work being that its natural sugar or is it the sulfur component in molasses that has some benefits?

this is difficult and time consuming method. I as a lazy person will just put some soil at the bottom of the pot, then add kitchen waste, manure or whatever. Sprinkle some thricoderma powder, cover it up and directly plant the seed. Wolah... grow wonderful. harvest it and repeat again

Using this as just liquid and not inoculated bran is the way to go, been doing it successfully for years myself. Bran is so expensive , it's crazy!
@JennySEJ

It really is appealing to use just the liquid! Do you know how long it stores? Do the bran normally used cause a shorter shelf life to the final product? Because that would be a game changer for me.

Do you know if you can freeze the fermented milk liquid? So when you defrost and add the molasses you can wait just for the last fermentation?

I'm interested in how you started your asparagus plant? Did you go from the actual seed, or did you have a root system that you planted? Apparently yours is growing in a container.....what are the requirements?......

this is a very expensive and long procedure to get a decomposer. I prefer to use "Lidi" water. Liquid that you get from compost, it smells like Taik for sure but it is extremely powerful.. all bad and good bacteria, fungi, virus are there... from there I put 200 ml of it to 1 liter of rice water and bottle them up. Cheap and easy but smell like taik better alternative is Eco Enzyme.. smell good. only cost sugar. 100 gram sugar, 300 gram garbage ( orange peel / pineapple, or whatever peels but orange and pineapple smell better ), and 1 Liter of water. let them ferment for 100 days..

Many ppl already said but i still want to do it too.^^ Thanks a lot for sharing this!! I just started my Bokashi but the bran in my place is way too expensive. So i am looking for other ways and found your video!! Just one small question: If not using to make cheese, which ways you used that curd, left from fermented milk? Can we put in Bokashi bin? Also, have you experiment to replace Molasses by brown sugar? Coz Molasses also very expensive at my place too T_T. I have googled and it said 1 cup molasses -> 3/4 cup packed brown sugar. Do you think it's good ratio? Thank you^^

Compost takes a lot longer to make. Which means for the same length of time you also need more space to do it because you wont process the food scraps fast enough. Its a double whammy, most renters cant have 3 full size compost bins running to rotate through or we get complaints from the landlord. And Im just talking about myself as a 2 person household because we eat so many bananas and potatoes 😂 I cant get process my scraps fast enough, I used to have 3 compost bins before I got told off so now I have a worm farm, and then the rest of my scraps goes in the bin 😢 I want to do bokashi to increase how much scraps I can process in that worm farm

@Sydney Tay a quick question does the material need to be wet when one first add it to the bokashi bucket? I have one bucket that is at least half filled with dry green plant material. It is not showing any sign of decompostion or white mold growth after three weeks in the closed bucket. So does one need to add water?

Its weird to make bacteria, so your bokashi grows mold. A handful of soil, old or new, has the benificial fungus.

I have been using bokashi for a few years now, fill a big terracotta pot in layers just like in this & it looks nice in my small courtyard garden & doesn't smell. After a short while it breaks down and the pot fills with giant earthworms - I have never seen so many earthworms before!. hardly need to buy potting compost anymore

How can one avoid the maggot growth? I'm interested in worm-free composting like bokashi because I have a phobia, but I still want healthy soil.
@Sydneytay
@Sydneytay Жыл бұрын
I'm afraid complete worm-free would be impossible because earthworm is quite the essential in decomposing stage 👀 However there're a few ways to prevent maggots Keep your bin dry and airtight! Maggots are usually from open lid that attract flies to lay eggs. You can try controlling the moisture and temperature of the bin by: 1. Storing in a cool dry place, to avoid excess humid forming in the bin. 2. Make sure it is always airtight, and avoid flies while adding your food waste into the bin. 3. Add paper & carton shreds/brown leaves/dried plant cuttings (carbons) in to your bin to balance out the wet food waste, this way you can keep it drier, which is not suitable for the maggots to grow 4. Cover your decomposing bin with waterproof mat, to prevent it from rain. I hope this helps you in building confidence to try out this bokashi method :)
