Curious about how bokashi is decomposed after all the fermentation work?
This video is a record of me burying the matured bokashi compost bin into my garden soil bed.
The break down process took around 2 weeks to complete. Sometimes, bigger and harder matter like bones and orange peels will take longer time to break down.
Bokashi is a composting method that had been long practiced in Japan's agriculture to improve their soil.
By practicing bokashi, I've greatly reduce my daily kitchen waste going to the landfill, and creates nutritious bokashi tea and soil for my house plants.
If you haven't watch my video on how to start a bokashi bin, check it out here

Extra info for preparing a soil bin! 📣 I've talked to a bokashi composter that has tried out a soil bin. She shared that her 1st soil bin was failed due to a closed and air tight lid. The bokashi was not decomposing correctly, and after 2 weeks, what she got is a binful of smelly water with lots of maggots. The next time, she tried to use a polyfoam container and only cover the soil container with loose dried leaves, away from sun and rain. After 3 weeks, she got a binful of successful nutritious bokashi compost soil!! So remember to not keep soil bin air tight!

yeah because youre switching from anaerobic to aerobic to finish the process and the fermented bokashi is absolutely a good choice to go in worms bins, ive been doing it but just have to make sure your worm bin is big so worms dont get forced to live in something too acidic.

Love watching your videos. I think bokashi I will try this year. I will try it in the spring time. Here in the US it's a little cold right now.

Thank you for the kind comment💜 Sure! Wishing you very good luck on the first try !! I’ve heard some bokashi members will keep making the fermenting bin during winter time and save the bin until spring to bury it.

Hi, thanks for sharing. I'm thinking of trying this on a balcony garden. How much compost does a bucket make? Do you think I'd be able to use it all on a balcony garden or would it produce too much compost for a balcony container garden? For a 2-person household.

you probably would need like three separate tubs to use as a soil factory for your fermented bokashi, you'd probably need a bit more space or dump one of the tubs out somewhere outside from time to time or find some storage space outside your place if its small.

It's highly depend on how much food waste your household produce. I would estimate it to be 2/3 of mine(18L for 3pax) for 2pax household. The final compost+soil would be almost double the fermented bokashi. Hope this helps!

Does bokashi is acidic right i think it will make your soil acidic too.

Hi! Thanks for leaving a comment 💜 Yes bokashi does make soil acidic slightly in short term, however the soil web will quickly work to neutralize it, so it should not be a problem For further read, maybe you would like to visit: bokashiliving.com/a-guide-to-soil-acidity-and-ph/ Hope this helps!

I do face rat problems in my area. I suggest to always cover the soil, both on the soil bed/planter tower method to avoid it.
