Hey, pal. Thanks so much for your question. I paint in oils. But I have a special episode coming out next season where I’m going to do an acrylic version of wet on wet. So if acrylics are your forte, hopefully you’ll subscribe to the channel so you don’t miss out on it. I think acrylic artists are really going to enjoy it. Thanks again 👍

Hey Kenny. Been a while since I've commented. But apparently I've missed getting alerts to your live shows! And I'm subscribed and everything so I don't understand why. And I'm not a happy camper as I've needed my Kenny Fix! Anyway, love the James Bond Portrait. He was probably my favorite at the time. Went and saw so many of his movies. Also, I would love to hear how you got into painting, your training, etc. I really would!! You're an incredible artist and multi-talented individual. Anyway my friend take care of yourself and look forward to more of your paintings and portraits. And really, I would be interested in hearing about how you got into being an artist, as obviously, you have an incredible and natural talent for it.
@Kennysgreasypaint9 күн бұрын
Hey, pal! Always great to see friendly comments. It’s very difficult for me in general to pick favorites of anything, so I actually couldn’t tell you who my favorite James Bond actor is lol. But they all definitely deserved their own portrait. As for the videos, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t be getting notified of new videos being post. Are you sure you’ve also hit the notification bell icon as well? Either way, I have some bad news and good news. The bad news is the channel is going to slow down for a while but the good news is it’s only because it’s under contraction. I have tons of videos under pre production right now. And once they’re all complete, edited and the time is right, they’ll all be released one by one so often you might not even be able to keep up haha. But I’m putting in the time and effort for the hard work. We all just have to be patient. My history with painting and how I got started is actually an idea for a video I have on its own. But I’ll give you the short version- basically I’ve been painting and drawing my whole life ever since childhood but I picked up the wet on wet technique during the pandemic and the rest is history as they say. I really appreciate you, your support and taking the time to comment. Once the next season is completely filmed, I’ll be able to release one episode a month along with other videos and follow up tutorials. It’s going to be awesome. I think everyone is going to really enjoy what I’ve been working on. But like paintings themselves, you can’t and you shouldn’t rush them. Thanks again buddy! Ask, discuss, and keep in touch any time 🍻

Can liquid clear be used with acrylic paints
@KennysgreasypaintАй бұрын
Hey, Sarah. Great question! So since the clear is an oil based medium, it will only work with other oil pigments. Unfortunately, acrylics are water based and wouldn’t mix well with the liquid clear. However there are water based mediums made to mix with acrylic paints, I’m just not sure of what those products are called but they exist.

@KennysgreasypaintАй бұрын
Well when setting up and laying my paints down, I take my very sweet time with it. Trust me that helps lol. But during clean up I definitely get a spot or two on my hands and fingers but of course you don’t see that part because I already end the video lol. Best thing to do though is wipe the paint off your skin as soon as you notice it and it’ll prevent staining as well.

This specific technique of oil painting depends on your canvas to stay wet the entire time and thick mediums are required. Without the white primed base coat that goes on first, the thick colors will be very difficult to blend.

1. Goodfellas!! The scene with Joe Pesci's mother shows them the painting of man and 2 dogs in the boat...CLASSIC!!! 2. Ferris Bueller's Day off when they're all in the art gallery and the looks and expressions they have, another classic. 3. Pulp Fiction, when John Travolta picks up Mia Wallace, she let's him by buzzing him in and tells Vince to make himself comfortable as she is still "getting ready" and Vince pours himself a drink and checks out the painting of Mia on the wall. Another excellent one.. 4. And most recently, I thought the movie was actually excellent... fact is painters inspired by Bob Ross will actually get the humor in this move.. the movie is: PAINT, actor Own Wilson plays a "Bob Ross" related character named Carl Nargle... I thought it was very good and funny. My opinion a must see movie. These 4 movies are the ones that immediately came to mind as I watched your video. Well done as always Brother Man!!! I did a basic knock off of this painting 2-3 months ago. My liquid clear is home brewed, I use linseed oil, a little stand oil in that and cut it maybe 1/4 part with odorless mineral spirits. Works fine for me. Future blends I plan to use use odorless turpenoid in, only because that product from Weber is indeed fully odorless. I clean my brushes in that Weber Odorless Turpenoid as well now. I've also used Gamblin solvent free gel as a clear base, but mostly on white canvas when I want wet on wet with full color retention. Thanks for the video !!
@Kennysgreasypaint2 ай бұрын
I would love to try that! And I still have yet to try the Gamblin clear gel. Very informative, thank you 👍
@davidg.50762 ай бұрын
@@Kennysgreasypaint The Gamblin solvent free gel used as the liquid clear base has a bit more tack to it than actual liquid clear. But I use mostly Gamblin paints and I just had to try it. It works well, helps blending and retains color saturation. It takes a bit of scrubbing in to apply , then a light wipe with a shop towel. You don't want a thick layer, it's intended to mix into paint up to something like 25%.
@Kennysgreasypaint2 ай бұрын
@@davidg.5076 I also find with Liquid clear, no matter how thin I apply and leave that stuff on, I have to lay my canvas down off the easel for it to dry without any colors “dripping”. Do you find that with the Gamblin gel? I know either way that’s how you should always lay your paintings to dry anyway
@davidg.50762 ай бұрын
No, I got no drips or runs. I did a tree scene by a stream with water features and brush and grass. This was painted over 3 days or so with the gel as the base. It just lived on my easel. The painting tacked up before I got the highlights on but they still got on there. Two of the leaves on the tree had some paint shift after that, in the stems I had painted in with a palette knife. But minor compared with all the paint used that didn't move through out the rest of the scene. My suggestion is just get the small tube of solvent free gel to try it out. It may not be for every painting. But too, it's not a bad medium to use in your paint. Edit: I just wanted to add, that the only time I got any tracking or runs even with my home brew liquid clear was before I added in the stand oil. In fact it's why I added in the stand oil. The stand oil I use is Windsor Newton Artisan stand oil, which dries a little bit faster than their traditional stand oil. It's thicker than straight linseed, thus the bit of mineral spirits. IDK,, it seems to be a good working blend.
