insightful... started keto 3 months ago after being diagnosed as T2D, just had a crippling flare up (first in a long time) which you explained rather well is a cause of the metabolism changing. As such I can expect a lowering of my Uric Acid levels. I had a roast pork on Sunday which i was dreading the flare up which didn't come. I've always refused the meds because, like you say - it only treats the symptom. You have validated my thoughts - thank you for sharing!

I also take the magnesium-L-glycinate as a glycine contributor with additional supplementation of NAC to form glutathione with the assumption there is excess glutamine in our tissues.

I am taking liberal amounts of Magnesium-L-glycinate. I take this compound for a variety of reasons including its ability to activate vitamin D3 to its physiological potential. Can this compound I am taking also act as a significant contributor as acting also as a glycine supplement?

great video so one may find that they start to lose calcium in the cells and need to increase/supplements, and one would watch there calcium to magnesium ratio, as well as your sodium to potassium ratio wound tend to high sodium where one would limit salt and increase potassium supplements? Also you would think glutathione supplementation for inflammation would be mandatory?

Have you looked into Terminalia bellerica (extract from this fruit) for lowering uric acid? "Standardized aqueous extract of T. bellerica, at 500 mg and 1000 mg twice daily doses, significantly decreased the serum uric acid and creatinine levels and increased the estimated glomerular filtration rate in a 24-week clinical study in chronic kidney disease subjects with hyperuricemia. Compared to the positive control, febuxostat at 40 mg dose, the T. bellerica 500 mg twice daily group appeared to be one third as effective, while the 1000 mg twice daily group was more than half as effective at 24 weeks. In addition, there were significant improvements in oxidative stress biomarkers as well as the systemic inflammation biomarker with all the groups. T. bellerica extract may be considered a natural alternative for reducing serum uric acid levels." Source: Pingali, U., Nutalapati, C., Koilagundla, N. et al. A randomized, double-blind, positive-controlled, prospective, dose-response clinical study to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of an aqueous extract of Terminalia bellerica in lowering uric acid and creatinine levels in chronic kidney disease subjects with hyperuricemia. Since 2020, I substituted glycine as a sweetener, and stopped sugar. I used it to make my own Whip Cream. Though I don't use a lot of heavy cream any more, I still use glycine to sweeten my hibiscus tea, to sweeten my Golden Milk, and to sweeten my morning Cacao, I don't sweeten my coffee, since I take it black for its bitter taste. During Holidays, we make a blueberry salad with heavy cream, sour cream, gelatin, and glycine for the base. Blueberries are in a gelatin, as well. I found glycine can lower post prandial spikes. And it can help sleep. I take at night -- Golden Milk -- with Ghee,Turmeric, Cardamon, Nutmeg, and Saffron, all sweetened with Glycine. Or I take 3 bags of Green Tea for L-Theanine, sweetened with Glycine before bed time. Now I will experiment with Glycine, and try to lower my Uric Acid levels, as I have been a carnivore for two years. Now, I eat my meats on the weekend, following a 5:2 PSMF schedule. During the week, I eat egg whites, some goat cheese, and whey. Lowering my saturated fats during the week to avoid palmitate. I followed a similar Gout diet in 2005 and I lost a lot of weight, and reversed my gout using yogurt, cheese, and eggs. It was a Keto diet based on Barry Sear's Diet books. Today, Quercetin, Coffee, Elderberry, Tart Cherry, Garlic along with Vitamin C is how I reduce Uric acid.

Allopurinol made my hands cold, sore and numb. My doctor wants to prescribe Fubuxostat but I am wary of the associated heart and stroke warnings. I miss running and an occasional beer with friends. Should I give it a try? Really enjoying the technical content of your videos.

But I also lowered my high uric acid with a completely different diet. It is also about whole, unprocessed food, but based on plants - WFPB. So, I would say, it's not about fruit, it's about processed foods and exaggeration in the amount of food per meal per day. I don't belong to any food denomination, I'm not vegan, now I eat everything, but exclusively unprocessed and in quantities sufficient to keep my abdominal muscles cut.

This video is totally worth watching, a very thorough presentation of the causes and gout as a symtom, armed with this info I feel more hopeful about the possibilty of being gout free and dealing with prediabetes. The 'consistent keto/low carb' message is especially helpful, I realise I need to change my mindset about weekend eating, after getting through the working week I want to treat myself to a block of dark chocolate and a gluten free biscuit and other processed foods but working on changing that now with God's help.

So I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and have been on/off carnivore for one year. I developed gout 5 months ago and have endured painful flares lasting weeks! I’ve been strict carnivore the last 3 weeks and developed a flare during the night last night and all I ate yesterday was fresh chicken wings baked in the oven.
@DrPetesKetoKlub27 күн бұрын
You are most at risk of a flare when UA is fluctuating up or down. The best defense is to eliminate the drivers which carnivore does really well. However, its equally important to stabilize your lifestyle and going on and off carnivore will cause wild fluctuations in UA. This is a situation where once you start you need to stay on it for life or if you make changes that you transition very slowly. I'm talking months. Also, managing other contributing lifestyle factors like sleep and exercise and stress are also important.
@Sabina-rk7jv26 күн бұрын
@@DrPetesKetoKlub thank you for your reply. I do agree it was the yo-yo-ing that probably caused it. I know it’s a lifetime commitment to carnivore and it’s just going to take time for my body to heal. When I first went on carnivore, I dropped 60 pounds in 4 months. The weight just fell off and now I’m down about 100 pounds. Totally off my blood pressure pills and other than my RA, no other co-morbidities. My goal is to get off the daily Rinvoq pills I take to control my RA. These biologic meds come with huge side effects and while the meds have given me my life back, my goal is to completely heal my body that I’ve abused for my entire adult life through the carnivore way of eating.

Question, since you look professional in this manner. Is the potassium citrate safe? I read that if you have LOW eGFR you need to cut on potassium, proteins and phosphorus. I want to try this potassium citrate as alternative to baking soda because baking soda has high sodium?

Hi - I was reading this article (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7071719/) which says that if one restricts the intake of glycine and serine, it would slow the growth of cancer cells. Does this mean that if one supplements with glycine and serine, it would cause cancer cells to grow if the person already has cancer? Or would it cause cancer if the person does not have cancer in the first place?

I had a major gout attack in June 2019 while vacationing in Florida. That gout flare lasted 3 weeks! Colcrys, Vitamin C, and hot water soaks, utilized in the last week of the flare allayed my suffering! Before that life changing flare, I had minor flares (lasting no longer than 24 hrs), 1 to 2 times year.. nothing that a little lemon water couldn't handle. In hindsight, that was incredibly stupid. So, circa June 2019, I made a major lifestyle change - I chose a vegetarian diet as the way forward. AND - It's been 5 years- no subsequent flares. - I've taken no UA lowering drugs during this time. - My mean serum UA remains at 7..2(3 annual physicals) - Heck, my Colcrys expired 4 years ago! I do take the following supplements everyday- -1 Emergen-C packet - milk thistle - tart cherry = celery seed - dandelion root, and - turmeric. So I parted ways with my Porterhouse and Old Fashioneds and welcomed salads, beans, rice, pastas, mushrooms, nuts, eggs, cheese, and veggies galore... No easy feat - going veg is tough after decades of consuming the standard American fare. I especially miss eating meats and sweets on the Holidays (Turkey on Thanksgiving; Wellingtons, Seafood, and Holiday Sweets on Christmas; Roast Lamb on Easter; Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, and Lobster Rolls during Summer Vacation)... But I don't miss the flares! Good luck to all those who suffer... you have my sympathies.

When I exercise I use tones of ATP for energy for my muscles and produce as much AMP. Is exercising a gout precipitating factor?
@DrPetesKetoKlub27 күн бұрын
UA does go up with exercise in everyone, not just gout sufferers. But in a gout sufferer that has eliminated the main drivers and is stable metabolically these UA fluctuations don't seem to drive gout flares. I believe that this is because we have addressed the inflammatory state that drives the flare. I train and exercise hard and live what I teach here and do not flare.

I’ve had Gout for years. I had a particular bad attack few years ago ie I had to crawl I was in that much pain. At the time I genuinely felt the urge to put my foot in hot water - not sure why. Since that attack I have always carried out this procedure. Hot water absolutely reduces the pain and helps with the recovery. Ibuprofen is also my go to. Nothing else works in my experience. I hope this helps someone. Ps currently have my foot in a bath looking at gout videos. 😢
