@mikeluna202610 күн бұрын
The anime is rushed so you don't feel time as much as in the light novel. It's not just events that were cut, but the reading through all of it makes you feel it even more. Roxy stars and LEAVES on volume 1. Then only reunites with Rudeus until volume 12. It takes ages to get there. And in the story 11 years have passed. So it makes sense Roxy can't recognize Rudeus. Plus, the LN depicts Rudeus as decently buff thanks to his daily training, so he must have look lots different in her eyes.
@mikeluna202610 күн бұрын
In the light novels the trip to Rapan takes half a book. so yeah, they cut a lot.

I'm suprised that you were underwhelmed by the Nanahoshi and Norn episodes. For me (final arc excepted) they were the most impactful and emotional of the series. Just goes to show that people have different takeaways from a show like this. Love your enthusiasm about the series overall though

29 girls!? Dang. I've only just reached volume 9 and minus one storyline following Hahari and the hairpocalypse which I didn't like that much, everything else has been absolutely hilarious, and while I will say there are some girls that are more meh in terms of their personalities, I don't dislike any of them and still think the cast is a lot of fun and I look forward to continuing the series, as well as see how they adapt stuff for Season 2 of the anime.
@tuxedoraysmankoworldorder6761Ай бұрын
@@JGCAnime yeah I agree with you about the meh Hahari arc,and it looks like it'll b part of the 2nd season, as if you've seen the new poster of it, they dropped Easter eggs of gals 12-25 which is awesome as well as Haharis longer hair and the spirit bomb. As for the voices, they got an explosive win with Megumin (konosuba) voicing Iku. Jan. Cant get here soon nuff heh

The voice of Megumin is playing Iku? That's gonna be an interesting experience when you take Iku's personality being similar to that of a certain crusader in the same anime as Megumin.

For me it was the opposite. Enjoyed the first half more. Are you sure you weren't watching the terrible 9volt subs or the dub or something? I had no problem getting into the story and was invested in the characters from the first episode, and normally I have a hard time giving a flying f about any character. That said, if you don't have some deep regrets in life yet, you'll probably have a hard time getting a foothold.

Something else that "Reborn as a Vending Machine" and "So I'm a Spider, So What?" have in common is that both main characters perceive themselves as those cute creatures with adorable anime eyes... and they you get a shot of how other characters see them and the juxtaposition is hilarious.

I just finished watching the show. I honestly think the anime was really bad, but had a lot of potential. They lose track of the characters' traits, goals, and arcs very often, and makes the anime seem messy. The characters, while likeable, lose the viewer's inrerest once their arcs are over. Most of the girls, at least have a good moment, like the phantom thieves kidnapping Emma, only for her to get a chance to kick ass as well. Noir and Lola having a talk about the competition going on, and how far both of them are willing to go to help each other as receptionist and adventurer. It's genuinely really really sweet to watch at times, but then other times, MC, who is usually a really entertaining lead that shows cowardice yet tries his best to be kind, act out of character and literally ask for favors. And having somewhat nuanced characters, like Tigerson and Olivia, being sidelined. It's bad, but there is potential, and I'll give it that! And if anyone enjoys this anime, I'm happy you do! Inenjoyed watching this too! (except Episode 8, that can rot)
@LuisMDias-sv6zv3 ай бұрын
I gotta be blunt with you, I find it "interesting" the way you separate S1 from S2, when the story as a whole works as a constant build-up, and makes an amazing full circle by the final episode (with the manga keeping it up but on a new phase for the both of them). My point is, it doesn't feel right to separate both seasons, when they work as one for a full story just there. BUT!! It's always good to watch more and more enthusiasts of this amazing story, and you'll definitely LOVE the manga.
@JGCAnime3 ай бұрын
I have a habit of separating my feelings on each season since in most shows, each part tells a different part of a whole story. But you're right that in this case, it's a constant build-up toward a phenomenal final scene and just a great final episode in general. I'm definitely looking forward to starting the manga!

The characters dont act oblivious to whats going on. The fact its not 20+ episode seasons helps as it keeps things from dragging on too long. Not having a love triangle helps as well so that protagonist ends up with who hes supposed to the entire time, instead of thinking another girl would be better for the protagonist like in toradora or golden times.

Frieren is a character study that the author just sprinkled other things onto it. So if you don’t like character studies are really into battle sequences, Frieren won’t be the best to watch.(not saying you won’t/didn’t like it, but just an observation)
@serenabissanti91043 ай бұрын
Seems like your just not as into the emotional story beats as the rest of us. The whole reason why Frieren is great is the story is well thought out and they make sure to focus on the in between moments just as much as the battle sequences
@JGCAnime3 ай бұрын
I enjoy the emotional story beats fine enough. I just find myself wishing the cast could be more unique and have a more entertaining adventure. And when it comes to showing how much fun this story can be, this exam was the perfect example of that with how it introduced tons of new characters that, compared our main crew, I found were a lot more entertaining. And bringing up that last bit of what you said, battles sequences are fun enough, but without characters you can get invested in, they can easily fall flat. So while I admit I may not care about the main cast as much as everyone else, I still like seeing them interact with different people and I wanna see how those interactions turn out. That’s why stuff like the second half of this season really stood out to me as some of Frieren’s best story telling so far since it manages to balance humor, conflict, and the bonds between the different characters in a way that the show didn’t really bother too much with in the first half. Though this probably just sounds like rambling so for that, I apologies and hope you have a great day.

Wow, didn't think I'd find someone who hated this show even more than me! I agree with pretty much everything you said, except that them getting together is bad because it's predictable. Once you hear the premise, it's basically a 50/50 if they get together or not, so the fact that they did isn't the problem, it's the execution. As you said, they act more like father/daughter or brother/sister, and there's never any real chemistry or progression in their relationship. I was rooting for them to get together with their respective crush because they had better romantic chemistry and were more compatible with them, not to mention that their crushes were more likeable characters than either of the main characters! Another issue that I noticed was how long they were strongly affected by their respective crush; I don't remember exact episodes, but they were still blushing, getting aroused by their crush's photos, struggling to act normal while talking to their crush etc, and then suddenly that all just stopped cold turkey, with no self-reflection or acknowledgment of it. I would much rather have seen a version of this story where their crushes start to return their interest, only for the main characters to realise that they've moved on, or that they'd put their crush on a pedestal, and that the real them doesn't live up to the idealised version of them. Anyway, this show is a good example that sometimes it's better to follow your gut than listen to other people's opinions; I watched the first episode a decade ago and hated it, but decided to watch the whole show recently when someone assured me it got much better....

@Samir-kn3jd4 ай бұрын
The anime is pretty episodic by nature (which can be off-putting) but it really does fit the theme of the anime, just enjoying the journey as it comes rather than feeling that you have to have a world changing goal, just like the things freirin remembers from his 10 year journey is not them beating the demon king but the little things that happened getting there. But that is also the problem with stories that are theme heavy. If you don't connect with the initial theme of the show, it is pretty hard to connect with rest of the show so it is understandable why a lot of people wouldn't like the show

How old are you? I feel you need more life experience and need to watch more anime to fully appreciate Frieren. I say this with no intention to be condescending. Frieren is not a good show as an introductory gateway to the genre. As the name implies, it's beyond the end of a journey. The main quest is over, and what now? That's the question that Frieren aims to answer.

I'm in my 20's and watched hundreds of anime. I'm also quite familiar with the fantasy genre as it's one of my favorites which is probably why watching fantasy shows like Frieren which tend to be a bit slower and not as plot-heavy compared to things like Mushoku Tensei or Danmachi don't sit with me as much.
