He has every right to hate Rem for doing all those awful things to him, but he doesn’t, not even a little bit. To me, that just makes Rem’s assessment of his true character more correct than ever: he’s truly a kind, self-sacrificing type of person who cares more about his loved ones than about himself. Even in the face of unimaginable cruelty, he sees the best in people, and is willing to sacrifice his own wellbeing to see those he loves live up to their true potential.
