Let me give you a hug. I was fired too today after 8 years and I can say - content like yours - helps me a lot at the moment, you sharing yourself in this vulnerable state helps me so much - I am not alone in this.

I moved in with my boyfriend last year on my birthday in October & then I signed up to help volunteer at our church and they said that it’s the “policy” and I’m not allowed to help serve. All because I’m living with my boyfriend.

It's so difficult leaving. I mean like I don't know that it's the most though I feel like leaving is one of the most difficult things to do. Like my parents seperated and it felt like my world was turned upside down then now me trying to navigate leaving feels like my world is turned upside down and then whirled around like a pinball course and then was completely destroyed and now I have to figure out how to rebuild earth. Like when every part of your life, Identity, friends and relationships, work, when everything in your life your goals and dreams is determined and attached to this lens of mormon belief and perspective it's just earth shattering and heartbreaking and it takes so much effort and time to rebuild it all after it all collapses. I'm still Mormon and still trying to navigate leaving. I think my main concern is I want to keep all the good things and I want to be as happy as possible (like that question of "are you happier inside or outside the church" and the idea that members spread about nonmembers being less happy weighs so heavy on my head and heart right now) and throw away all the bad stuff. Like I want to keep good values like honesty, integrity, kindness and just trying to be a good person, though without all the feelings of perfectionism and shame and never enough. I guess I don't want to go down the route of "let's go ham and do everything that I've always been told not to do" instead I think I want to lean more towards a modern Christianity perspective or a spin off of modern Christianity, like C.S. Lewis stuff.

Hi Sydney. You sound exactly like all of the other exmos because all of you are reading from the exact same script. “I did my own research.” “They say to only use church approved resources and that’s a red flag.” “The church is very manipulative of your emotions.” “I don’t like being told what to think”. (Unless it’s the exmo script on what to say when you want to leave the Mormon church and want to make a KZfaq video of it.🤣) It appears someone is paying all of you money to make these “independent” KZfaq videos. If you actually “did your research”, you would know that Jeremy Runnel’s CES “letter” (84 pages, which I doubt you have read in its entirety) is simply a shorter version of Jerald and Sandra Tanner’s book, “Mormonism Shadow or Reality” written in 1963 which he plagiarized by crowd-sourcing it on Reddit a few years ago. The real story is he didn’t have any doubts. He wasn’t man enough to tell his pioneer stock family that he didn’t want to keep the commandments so he went looking for a way to “prove the church was false” so he could save face. He coaches others on how to leave the Mormon church. For the record, I have read the CES letter. There is nothing new there that hasn’t already been debunked. The bottom line, a person needs to pray and ask God if something is true and receive a witness from the Holy Ghost of eternal truths: that God is our Father, Jesus Christ is our Savior, his restored church, the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, etc. Honestly, you don’t really seem like you care whether the LDS church is “false.” You’re basically putting on the exact same show as the other exmos. My advice to you is quit hiding your desire to “sin” behind your faux outrage at “the church isn’t true”. Man up and own the truth that you don’t want to live the commandments. I can respect that. If you actually are attending a born-again Christian church, you will be disappointed to learn that people are judgmental wherever you go. They will have their version of commandments they expect you to keep if you are in their club. But you may be able to shop around and find one that says your favorite sins aren’t sins in their eyes. Plus, you will have to defend their silly concepts of the Trinity and their narrow version of Heaven for you and Hell for the billions of people that never had the chance to hear about Jesus. Maybe Jeremy can write a letter for that religion when decide to bail on it.

As myself I use to be a Christian and then left that religion cause the private school I went too taught those values ever since I was little then later on thru out half of my teenage years I went to a catholic school they believed in catholic religion then later thru out my college life I went back to a Christian church some others but I guess in some ways I wanted some friends and do stuff with people but in 2010 I joined the mormon church let me say it was okay but some of the stuff they taught was really strange and just let it be and I did baptism for the dead probably like 10 or 12 times when I use to be in the mormon church I would attend the services but mostly I didn't because I didn't really understand it at all but in some ways I did participate in there activities like the singles ward where they did classes and activities it was okay kept me busy in the 2016 things turned around where my ex bishop accused me and my family for taking stuff from the church like cleaning supplies and guess some other stuff like fundraisers after that my ex bishop filed thru small claim courts me and my parents had to pay them back almost about $3500 wow not only did we paid for it they also said we had to attend counselling and they would determine if were worthy of the church but me and my parents said no no no no we want out please remove our records from the church and in all it was sad very hard to adjust this was all happening in 2016 luckily I didn't know much about it or grew up with it cause its very sickening how this religion is and these people don't care about you only some people they will associate with they also said I should admit I have a disability I'm embarrassment to them shouldn't be around them and man I couldn't believe these people plus another thing is they made fun of me for being a native american I'm navajo they would always say harsh stuff I should go to Indian Health service for medical stuff and say I should speak my language wow its very very very terrible religion they are racist and judgmental I wished I never joined this church cause it would of saved me a lot of heartache all these regrets and this unbearable trust between me and my parents but were good most of the time there are some issues yeah so in all I can say is don't joined this religions it's terrible and its bunch of ignorant people who say otherwise!!!!
