I like these videos, generally speaking. My only complaint is that, the droning music in the background is not helpful to understanding what in the world you are doing with the mixer in the software. IF, on the other hand, the music that was accompanying these videos went along with the changes you are making, it would make a lot more sense.

Hi. Question, does anyone know how these madi channels show in a DAW? Is it easy as just selecting the input on a track like you always can or is there something different?

RME should be embarrassed and shamed by the really, very poor tutorials they publish. No real updated videos for the present day Totalmix, really poor communication and teaching skills, this is so bad. RME needs to get a 3rd party to do their tutorials for them, and one that knows the software and hardware and aren't following a German technical translated script. I can't believe they allow this amateurish, incomprehensible garbage to represent their excellent, world beating products. Get your hands in your pockets RME and pay for a proper tutorial library that people can actually use and understand. In this day and age, there is also a job in Software Development called UX, User Experience, hire some of those as well.

This is like most RME Tutorials, well intentioned, but quite, quite incomprehensible. I know I'm not the only one, there are so many people that have and continue to complain about the unintelligibility of their tutorial videos over the years, yet RME is unwavering in their belief that their videos are superior. They're not. The products are great, but the usability/ experience is counterintuitive and a long and steep learning curve. @RMEAudio why don't you outsource your tutorial videos to a company that has communication as their core competency? this video for example, is as clear as mud. Come on!

I am using RME UCX fireface for routing my Traktor Pro 4 dj playback software. I am using 2 Traktor decks. I assigned Analog 1 and Analog 2 to Deck A in Traktor. Then I assigned Analog 3 and Analog 4 to Deck B in Traktor in External mixing mode. In the TotalMix sofware, what setting should i use (Free or Submix mode). Issue I am running into is that in my External mixer, I can hear the audio from both decks A and B in one channel in my audio mixer. Perhaps the setting in Total Mix is routing the audio and combining them both. Can you please send me settings for Total mix that I should be using. Thanks.

I think there's a bug with the drivers for the Fireface 800 (v3.41). I'm getting audio dropping out intermittently every 30 seconds or so. Two processes are using high CPU load (shown in Activity Monitor): audioanalyticsd and coreaudiod. This only happens when the Fireface is used as in/out in my DAW. Tried other audio in/outputs with the same audio playback and the issue doesn't occur.

Hey, I have an MPC Live 2 that has a Roland Fantom (which has an RME interface inside :)) connected to the MPC Live which is being used as the sequencer. I then have the MPC Live TRS to XLR on the Original Babyface which is in turn USB to my computer. What I now want to do is connect the Babyface to the MPC Live via MIDI so that it slaves Ableton Live and standalone drum machine plugins that I have with the MPC being the master. I'm thinking about an upgrade of some kind and thinking of the best RME device that would fit my needs and how I would go about doing this? Any advice would relax my brain.

*You guys REALLY DROP THE BALL on the whole MTC in the total mix software!!!!!!! It is seriously limiting the way it is configured, whereas there are no parameters for SUBS in the MTC. I use a L/R with a single stereo fed SUB and an additional top speaker in the center for an actual MONO REFERENCE. there is no way in total mix MTC to set that up so I can use the same sub in both configurations and switch them with a single button no matter what... YET CUBASE has a full comprehensive software MTC, however I dont use CUBASE. it is very frustrating, with all the money RME charges to DROP THE BALL on something so ph-u-c-king simple, as a software upgrade.*

*Why is there no sub speaker option? They are to far in the game to have total mix NOT be no where near as efficient as an MTC than CUBASE. I have a single sub and 2 sets of tops, I want to switch the tops but both using the sub, there is no convenient way to do this with total mix*

They are probably the most diligent and committed audio converter manufacturer out there and they would do amazing in the high-end field and production sound space 😻 Even if it’s just an ADI-2 with a Hirose jack or battery sled and timecode, that would already be incredible!

I've downloaded everything as suggested but no matter what I do my computer, which is current Windows 10 won't recognize the RME. I've tried multiple USB inputs, different cables, including the cable that came with my dac. Nothing works.😞

Meh. I thought you could run VST on DSP or something. Took a while to understand that you‘re just routing the virtual channels through LiveProfessor. In fact you could use whatever VST host you like. I think most people won‘t get that.

can you toggle the 48v Phantom power on the hardware? the instruction on how to do this via the manual is not working and i've been unable to confirm if the unit is defective or there's something being missed on my end.

Please add 20 band graphic eq, or even 30 and HF, LF on both input and output so we can use it as a 2 to 4 way active crossover outputs.

I use the EQ to calibrate headphones and monitors to be more 'colourless'. In the same sense, I want the analyser to also display the band levels without being 'coloured' by the calibration EQ (i.e. spectrum analyser display pre-EQ). In my view, a flat white noise source outputting through headphones calibrated to sound like flat white noise should likewise appear as flat white noise on the analyser, not as white noise plus calibration EQ curve. As far as I can tell there's no way to do this. Have I missed a setting, and if not is this something you guys might consider implementing?

Pure passion in engineering. Not only is the signal clean but all my 3 RME fireface 800 are still running today without any problems and one of them is around 20 years now. The only reason why I will update my setup is to go away from Firewire interface and over to USB. Simply amazing!

RME? I didn't know you were still alive. We are still waiting for USB drivers on Linux. We can only use our high performance cards on Windows.. (fireface 802) that sucks :(
