Am I being stupid? The Seawind is slow because it’s heavier? But wasn’t the sail area way above the curve for a boat of that weight? Surely that makes it faster?

Seth / Elizabeth, great video, questions raised and presentation. Also, you have a great family and are wonderful parents. Now that you have dropped anchor at HH, I aim guessing doing the additional videos on construction materials / methods is not going to happen. Bummer, it is so hard to find true details on all the brands. Outremer seems to be getting they story out best with their training, support and a number of strong KZfaqrs telling the story. Possibly with the Wynns and your marketing HH will get better told. Windelo looks real interesting but no one telling the story and light on the marketing. Of course has to be hard for brands to tell the story when they are sold out 2-3 years in advance.

I see its an old video, yet so is my experience. For the last 20+ years I have docked mostly single handed, and always use the same technique. tie a midship spring as close to the dock as possible and the boat is secured already or putting it in gear will spring it closer to the dock. .

Knowing how much more severe conditions are in real life than when viewed on video, that must have been unnerving. Any thought of dragging lines to help slow the boat when there’s no drogue?

I just found you guys a couple of weeks ago and I’m watching every video. I’m loving them and feel I’ve gotten to know all of you. You are a wonderful couple and great parents. Your boys will always cherish these times all of their lives. Each boy has his own personality and they love each other and adore their parents. Your seamanship is absolutely top notch and Archer is gorgeous, with so much space and 😊room to have your own private spaces. Take care guys, and if you are in our neck of the woods (Otaki NZ) our home is your home.

Imho, Seth was the driving force behind the sailing/ filming, for me there was always a faltering in his voice as if he was persuading people to do things and be places they didn't want to be. He was tirelessly trying to get content from what appeared to be unappreciative, uninterested participants....going along for the good times, turning nasty when the going got slightly rough! My gut feeling, with a true wind and a fair crew, Seth would be still circumnavigating the globe with his family!

What about Sunreef 50 or 60 as a world cruiser? Would u consider it if money wasn't an issue? Would it be viable for a couple who wants to sail the world without a crew? Even though money for a crew isn't a problem, i feel it takes the privacy and connection I would like to have with my partner/family in this kind of adventure. Would love to have your take on this. I loved the HH 52 forward cockpit btw. But if u could take a step forward in the catamaran game as a home to cruise the world sailing, Would you think this is a viable option? Bear in mind, I would like to be mainly sailing it and use motor as less as possible. Specially talking about the Sunreef 60 for a Bluewater cruiser as a couple. Thanks so much and wish all the best for you guys, hope we can meet someday. Would LOVE to have you guys take on this... Cheers!
@TheSailingFamily
@TheSailingFamily 6 ай бұрын
The Sunreef is really a motor-sailor, meaning it cannot sail up wind, cannot sail in light wind and you will find that you use your motors a lot to get around. This is probably a great boat if you are stationed in one place (the BVI or Greece, for example), but as a world cruiser I have NEVER seen one making the rounds without a captain and crew. It's just a different boat for a different need IMO.

I will forever be wondering the rest of that "We met at a bar" story, where Elizabeth began to say, "...but the most interesting part is" and then abruptly stopped and Seth briskly changed the subject 😂 36:05
@TheSailingFamily
@TheSailingFamily 11 ай бұрын
It's a good story actually. We met at a bar and quickly discovered we lived in the same neighborhood. Then the same street. Then the same cross street. Then the same building. I had moved into the third floor of the building and Elizabeth lived on the sixth. It was very funny to realize we were neighbors, but not to meet in the building. And quite convenient because I did not have to ask for her number. Anyway, that's the short version!

Why aren't the propellers covered like jet engines? Can prevent a lot of unnecessary injuries to people and marine life.
@TheSailingFamily
@TheSailingFamily 11 ай бұрын
They sell protective casings but they reduce the power output of the propeller, so not many boats install them. If operated correctly and you wear a kill switch, they should not be needed on anything other than vessels teaching sailing or in similar roles.
