Personally I am a big fan of PDP and they sound great with some attention (and replacing all heads and the snare). But personally that last 10 percent of the shells I figured out after playing a Pearl Masters. So yeah it matters, if you have way over 2000 bucks to spend for a shell set. And even then there is not much of a difference. Its mostly just the plys and the wood they use that can make a difference.

For a serious drummer that needs to work in a low volume scenario, I could see this being worth it, especially the $4.5k option

all the pretty pretty, and the toms still machinegun. Haven't found an electric kit yet that doesn't have that problem.

Looks like acoustic drums are on the way out as well as Beatiful cymbals that have been made for years. Il stick with acoustic, to many wires to many options.

You CAN make a wooden drum sound like a Vistalite. You have to COAT the inside of the drum with a shiny clear coat.

Tried a kit my local guitar center and the zones weren't great, the hihat pedal height was inconsistent and the crash was randomly choking out. Not a good look for a $7000 kit. Not even a good look for a $700 kit.

Amazed to hear how this sucks the life out of Rdavidr's drumming. He has a super recognizable tone when he plays and hearing him on this kit, it was lost.

7K and THEY DON'T GIVE YOU A HI-HAT STAND?! Are you kidding me?! 🤣🤣 How stupid can you be as a company to say yeah let's give 'em stands for the crashes, ride, toms but f**k them on the hi-hat stand...🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣 What a joke! NONE of the kits give you a hi-hat stand tells me to stay away. Cool tech but over priced and they don't give you everything you need. Roland should take a page from their cymbal tech.

A few years ago Zildjian dropped the ball on gen16. This time, they really dropped the ball. You can’t get the cymbals without the drums. You can’t use the electronics on existing low-volume cymbals. You have to use everything exactly as they say. No thanks.

by they way the best way ive found to get rid of rust off of chrome is with aluminium foil and coca cola. the results look pretty similar but its really easy to get the big bits of surface rust off 👍

MIJ kits usually have a nice deep tone especially their kick drums, I have a MIJ Pearl Challenger Mahogany kit from the 60's in blue sparkle and then I was using my brother's little MIJ 20 in Maxitone and they are beefy for 20in

For the last 10-12 years I'm using a self-built kit (real drums with mesh heads and DIY piezo triggers) into a 2Box module, and a mix of dampened real cymbals with DIY triggers into the 2Box, and chained through a Gen-16 system for hats and a chokeable crashes/ride/china. Best of both worlds. I don't see the advantage or the technological leap of the Alchem-E approach, and can't see the justification of the huge price.

Ugh. It's 2024 and entry Alesis kits still sound like they're from the '80s, except shitty '80s, not modern synthwave-style '80s. They could provide better sounds if they wanted to but they want you to buy their more expensive modules for that, despite the fact that these modules could absolutely handle the audio and it would just require a software update. Intentionally gimping their products to make other products more enticing. Typical business practice, but I'm just kinda tired of it.
