Hello Agile, greetings, I have watched this video several times following your recommendations. I have a 1995 Toyota 4Runner automatic 2WD...I cleaned the gas tank and radiator. I drove them for a while and the water seals came out. I'm going to lower the engine to put the new seals on them and take advantage of changing the timing belt, pulley, tensioner, water pump packing, oil pump, gaskets and all the other details. What speed is recommended for this good truck. Thanks in advance for your response. I am from Venezuela. Greetings.

I've had 27 4runners and 9 of them have been second gens with the 3vz 3.0, they have been as GOOD and bulletproof as my 5VZs and 1GRs. I was also a Toyota technician. And i BEAT and abuse my 4runner 3.0s in the Arizona heat like none of you would comprehend

I had a 95 4runner with the 3vze 3.slow v6, loved the vehicle but hated the engine, simply a dog of an engine, gutless and problematic, you never knew what it would run or go like from day to day, that was many years ago and ironically I miss it, had many different 4wd's since and now have a 94 fzj80 landcruiser, absolutely love love this thing, it's so sweet and cool at the same time 😊

Any tips on how to get in the vehicle if all my door handles are like this? Someone tried breaking in my 92 4runner. I tried googling, but it is failing me.
@AgileWoodsman25 күн бұрын
Oh man that sucks!! I'm sorry that happened to you. I don't have any ideas on how to get it. Obviously the interior handles would work but that doesn't help does it lol. I'll think on it and post if I get a flash of brilliance. I'll also pin this incase someone else has an idea. Best of luck!

Nice vid and channel. Thanks for the effort. I recently did over 3000 miles from Oregon to Southern Baja and back in my '92. Stock engine but lifted w/315/75R16 tires. No issues whatsoever and I definitely don't maintain mine as well as yours. Currenty got some good oil leaks a I need to deal with. I am just shy of 200K miles. Keep it up the videos! Thanks.🤙

So my check engine light doesn’t come on right away. I can turn it on and drive for a couple of minutes with to driving smooth. But after a few minutes my check engine light comes on and I can feel a difference. So my question is, since the check engine light doesn’t come on right when I start it, will the code still pop up if I did this trick?

You are the man i need to speak to. I took my 93 Warrior with the 3vze to mechanic to replace valve cover gasket. He then discovers my driver side camshaft has wear on one lobe. His price for valve cover gaskets, camshaft install, and water pump/timing belt is $2700! I know i can do it all myself except the camshaft. Is it that difficult to change out? Can i just drop the new one in place of the old? Also i assume the valves will need to be adjusted after new cam is in right? I was even told the heads must come off to install new camshafts.

Thanks for the video. This is the deepest I’ve ever dove into a motor. The hardest part of this whole job is removing the intake and egr. Especially on a 30 yr old truck. Wouldn’t have done it without this video!

Yes! Congratulations. Well maintained machine. I made the mistake of letting go of my 1st gen 7 years ago over an AC. 1 year ago I purchased a 2nd gen from a young guy who drove it into the ground, and parked it in a sheep pasture 4 years ago where it sat. I trailered it back home and began the process of bringing the beast back to life. Today, it runs very well. I have learned two things. 1. OEM parts only in hard to access parts of the engine and trans. 2. Working on these machines is about leverage, access, and factory specs. Your videos have provided insight and confidence. Thank you Sir!

I'm starting to plan a similar trip in my 2009 4Runner SR5. It's got about 180,000 well maintained miles on it. I'll be going from New England across to the Plains, and then down thru the southwest to Arizona, across the south over to Florida, and then back up to home... care to share any tips or warnings on planning the trip?
@AgileWoodsman2 ай бұрын
Tip 1 is have fun!!! No stress. Just be in the monet and enjoy! Other than that, as far as the rig goes, get her maintenance up to date. Check u joints on the drives haft, steering, trans and diff fluid, hoses etc. All the things we usually don't look at. Carry a small tool kit and a decent bottle jack. Gorilla tape and water. Just enjoy! Post if you have more questions.
@bobbyd85032 ай бұрын
@@AgileWoodsman Thanks, I was planning a similar trip a few years ago, but the virus screwed that up. One of the first things I did was have my mechanic go over it from front to back and make a list of maintenance and repairs that were needed. This gave me time to space out work so it wasn't rushed and was financially manageable.

People complain about them because of the Head gasket issue and lack of power
@AgileWoodsman2 ай бұрын
Yup I'm aware of why the complains happen. I just think they're way overblown. I have suspicions about power too, that'll be on a video soon. When these are working right the power is reasonable. Way better than a 22R and those don't get hate lol

I picked my 1995 second gen off eBay almost two years ago and flew up to Denver to pick it up and drove it back to Texas, 28 hours straight and it made it. It turned over 200K soon after getting back. I have had had the timing chain replaced twice since back however I fault the aftermarket parts and not the 4Runner.
@AgileWoodsman2 ай бұрын
You must have the 4 cylinder huh? That's a rare bird! And yeah parts are junk these days, far too often.

My main car is a 91 Pontiac Bonneville I would drive it across country my Toyota 4Runner would not trust it. I don’t drive mine much drive it the other day and it wasn’t making a Geary noise. My wife had 356,000 on her 3.4 and it got totaled out she has a 96 Tacoma now with 245,000 not hating on 3.0 at all they are just a lot of work to keep running. I know you have done a ton to that thing.
@AgileWoodsman2 ай бұрын
Well I did a lot because I chose to, not much was actually wrong with it. Mine has been pretty much rock solid for the almost 20 years ive had it. Fluid changes, tires, front brakes only once, never rears yet. Mine hasn't been a ton of work at all compared to most other cars. I think my crown vic was the only other one that would compare. Does your Pontiac have the 3400? That's a decent motor. Unfortunately the rest of the car around them were poorly made. I had a brand new Pontiac in the 90s and I've never bought a GM since. And I grew up a Pontiac guy. My first was a 68 firebird. Has 2 trans am's also.

So many miles driven on this trip and so many miles on the Gen2!! Nice trip and i have relations in chicago and new york. I take my 94' as far as J-tree, probably not new York. My Gen2 doesnt like rpms over 3000 and that's just around 65-70 mph. Im not so into being in the slower vehical crew on the interstate.😂 Manatees are so docile and friendly 😊, super cool experience!!
@AgileWoodsman3 ай бұрын
Yeah mine likes to be around 3000, but up to 3300 is fine. I'm ok with being in the slow lane. I've gotten used to it. Plus it's just part of the territory. I want all the new cars going by and they bore me haha
@jasoncook12763 ай бұрын
@@AgileWoodsman I got a good chuckle😂 out of all the new cars going by❤ thx!
@edcopad4083 ай бұрын
I was suspecting this was my case since I couldn’t find a vac leak and the rpm surges between 1200 and 850. Im going tighten my down see if that helps I also coudnt find that replacement only just an entire throttle for 200+
@AgileWoodsman3 ай бұрын
Yeah it'd a tough one. As far as I can tell not much is available from toyota or aftermarket anymore as far as throttle body goes. I wonder is that little part will ultimately be what makes these have an end date rather than perpetually rebuildable like a classic car is.
