Surprisingly with the heavier suspension in the car it still drives really well. Of course you can feel it on there, but compared to other vehicles I've had in the past (prados/hilux etc) the roof load doest impact the cruiser badly. I've never had it on there without the gvm upgrade though - standard springs might be a different story. Cheers, ORT.

3800 in this one. Very tight on capacities with a decent size van (we don't tow a 3.5t van). 4t should be fine depending what other gear you want in the car (if you start going rear bar, long rang tanks, drawers etc you will be pushing it). Make sure you check rear axel weights as well as this can catch people out. Cheers, ORT.

Excellent review of your tinnie and the great benefits of fitting the "collar" to the tinnie. I'm just beginning to learn as much as l can about all thing's relating to boating. Being a complete novice and wanting to get back into fishing but this time around, using a boat and of course for pleasure/recreation. Don't know yet whether to get a tinnie or a fibreglass boat. I will seek the advice of others as to which type would be best for my intended use. I want a boat for lakes/dams, rivers and coastal bay fishing only, I have no desire at all to venture out into "open waters". New subscriber, to your channel. Regards, Brian.

Hi Brian, thanks for the feedback! I wish you all the best in getting back on the water. If you don't have any intention of hitting anything too rough then its hard to go past the tinnies. Lighter, harder to damage, often cheaper and easier to maintain. Cheers, ORT.

Okay thanks for this on the screws, have you tried the butterfly ones that open out when going into wall or these don't work mainly for weight distribution, do you use a glue when doing them or just self tapper.
@ourrealitytravels

Just the self tappers worked fine on mine. Theres not much weight going on it. I wouldn't use butterfly ones, I'd think you would have issues with them vibrating loose. No glue, screws were sufficient. Cheers.

Gday mate. Much noise created from boat / rack etc when on highway or corrugations? Also…. Is it easy to completely remove the boat loader from the roof if I wanted to re install a different roof rack for a trip not requiring the boat? Cheers in advance and thanks for the vid mate! Courts
@ourrealitytravels
@ourrealitytravels 3 ай бұрын
Hey Courts, I think the noise level will depend on vehicle. The 200 has pretty good noise suppression and I can't say I've ever notice anything from it. If you don't put a twist in your tie down straps they will humm, but otherwise no noise for me. To take it off is relatively easy, two bolts on each mount - but its heavy and you will either need two people or a hoist system of some sort if you want to do it single handed. I tend to just leave it on and use it as a roofrack when I need the extra space as it doesn't annoy me being on there. Cheers, ORT.

You mentioned tired and cranky after long drive and tempers frayed when backing in. To eliminate that, think about this. You're about done in One or both need a toilet stop. You're hanging out for a cuppa. STOP Even if you're only 10 minutes away, stop refresh and you will cruise it in when you arrive at your destination.

Hey mate, the custom boat loader is gold. Yep this one is a mako - I sold the Dart a little while ago and have just built a new setup. Both are great little boats, the Dart HDW is just slightly better than the Mako 370HD IMO due to layout. Without collar the mako is marginally more stable at rest though. Cheers, ORT.

For me, I'd be putting a collar on it without question so would go the Dart. If def no collar, the Mako would be worth considering for the extra stability from the edge tracker design. Both are great little tinnys. Fully welded and higher sides than most.@@fishinbite

Hi mate. I've actually just done a review vid of my rooftop loader that shows the tinny loading with a collar - check it out on my channel. Zero impact with the boat collar with my loader. Thanks mate. Yeh the vids never do the weather justice, particularly on the gopro with image stabilisation. I've definitely been out in much worse, and you can push it hard directly into an oncoming wave and I honestly have never had one come over the bow. Reason being is that the harder you come down, the more up pressure against the massive reverse chine in the collar which pushed you up. It's just a ripper of a design. I'm sure you could do it if you went and charged into a breaking wave but in normal driving conditions, it doesn't happen. Cheers, ORT
