How far you are when using 18 mm, and what body?

Come on, there is so much to add/upgrade: 1. Fix the damn screen they ruined on the XPro 3! Give us a Canon style flippy rotating screen that does all the things. it flips closed if you're a douche, it flips out if you're filming, it flips flat like normal if you're just shooting like almost all photographers always shoot. it isn't hard and everyone knows it the right way to do things. No other camera company is confused about this! 2. Make it 40+ megapixels. Not much to say, the sensors are normal now, just step up. 3. FIx the ISO dial that has be WRONG and the subject of much pain and crying since the XPro 1. 4. Obviously IBIS. 5. Dedicated photo/video settings that stay set with the mode. Specifically shutter speeds that match to frame rate when jumping back and forth between stills and video. Other cameras do this. 6. Maybe jump to full frame? I know this could get people freaked out but seriously, It would end a lot of debate and move the line forward from being slightly compromised into fully capable. I know, controversy! 7. That dual ISO thing Sony's do would be killer and game changing for reportage and event shooting. 8. Obviously an updated and feature rich viewfinder would be required. Maybe some features no camera has? Laser distance metering, fun graphical manual focus assists, night vision, unicorn mode? 9. We need a Fuji brand colored "dot" somewhere on the camera. Make it look premium. 10. Simple but pro spec'd side ports for tethering, video , sound etc. Maybe a data port with a breakout box for the real shit? 11. FIX THE CAMERA APP! Fuji is the only system that has no functioning camera app and they just don't seem to give a shit. Leica went all in and made it work pretty seamlessly. We need that. The new system that actually works should be well integrated into the camera as a core feature. If they're ever going to do the XPro again they need to put the "Pro" into it. Make it the flagship "Pro" camera that we are looking for. It needs to be the sexy jaw dropper we all know it can be. I shoot my XPro 2 along side my Canon on commercial shoots. I use it next to a Pentax 645Z and it fits right in. I shoot concerts and journalism with it. I shoot celebrity parties exclusively with my XPro 2. The camera wants to be everywhere and we need it to be everywhere with us.

You take amazing wedding photos, it's clear you feel the subject, but i think you also have a street photography background, that eye for interesting moments. Amazing photos, you have a lifetime subscription to the channel.

I have only just come across your vlog`s really love what I have seen so far and totally agree with your views on Darcy Padilla`s work and the book. Wow what a body of work, I first came across Darcy when I read a feature in the "Guardian" in regards to her winning the W. Eugene Smith award for humanistic photography and then buying the book when it became available. I like yourself collect photographic books, I am a photographer, I have studied photography and worked professionally, the Julia project and the Book"Family Love" I found to be one of the most if not the most powerful bodies of work I have seen, I was so moved by it in a very emotional way. Thank you for your review and look forward to watching the rest of your vlogs.

Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏼 I’m new to the Fujifilm system so I appreciate you taking the time to try out and share these. What I seem to struggle to find is a recipe inspired by the late Peter Lindbergh. I love the tones in his BNW photography. Do you have anything like that? Or have you seen any recipes like that?

Torn between 18 and 23mm😅 am I right to say that if I want a 23mm alike composition, I can use the 18mm and just walk a few steps closer ?

So excited I purchased a X100VI today. I’m still setting the camera up. With the increased MP density I would have appreciated an updated lens to fully resolve the sensor. Of course I knew about this before purchasing this camera. Bet we’ll see that in the VII. Looking forward to taking this little light capturing machine out to play with it. I know I’m going to love it. Saw your recent Video with your new film simulations recipes and will add two or three into my C1-3. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Hey Kevin! Was wondering if it's absolutely impossible to access and edit photos within the camera itself? Is it a necessity to have it be saved within the computer first?

I love that your shots have more to them than just a subject. The wider picture really tells a compelling story, there's so much going on in the frames, and yet they are absolutely beautiful.

Hello Kevin, What’s up now several months after the video, do you still use mainly 18 + 56? That’s my set up actually (sometimes 18 + 33 if 56 is too long depending on the context). I really love it, sometimes I miss the 23 a little but because I used to shot exclusively on X100T during years. And the 23 have something sometimes more « pure » due to the fact the frame is filled more easier, as a 35mm equivalent. But 18 + 23mm would not make a lot of sense, I love it for all the reasons you mentioned here :)

Hi Kevin, just got an X100f, equally, just found this tutorial, 7 years old, I write this in hope your still there, I'm struggling to get a good exposure between beautiful sky and foreground, if I expose for detail sky my foreground is very dark. If I bring up the foreground the sky is blown out. If your still there, Help!!.. 😅 Please. Thank you.

Thx for your take on the XT5. I got the XH2S and like to use it with the batter grip and something like the 70-300 zoom but still miss my xpro3. Probably could have saved some money and gotten an XT5 (especially for someone not shooting any video)😅 Waiting for the new xpro release as the XH2S cannot be sold very well on the second hand market it seems.

Fujifilm, please don't make me sell my fujifilm gear and buy the Leica Q3 please make a significantly smaller GFX fixed rangefinder to compete with the Q3 or a Xpro4 that is upgraded with ibis, xt5's evf or bigger and better, bigger battery, dual jpeg film sim outputs and the Q3s multiple focal ranges so you could carry one lens but at least have one other field of view.

I've first considered becoming a professional photographer when I saw this video. Coming back to it to share with a friend as I've started a career in photography this year. Still got to do my first weddings but a few portrait sessions and an event under my belt now. Clients are happy so far and so am I. :) Great inspiration dear Kevin! :)

In 2017 I got a XT1 for street photography because of you then an xpro2. I never wanted to do weddings I always liked street photography even though I’ve gotten into fights because of it in the streets of NYC. Last Saturday I did my first wedding as a Documentary Wedding Photographer. I did the wedding with 2 xpro2 18mm f2 and 35 f1.4. And a small flash at night. Thanks for the inspiration I hope I get more weddings.

a great little camera, in fact one of the two I use most.....the Olympus em5 for it's viewfinder, image stabilisation and lens choice and the X70 for it's compactness, stellar performance and intuitive dials...she goes with me to all family events, light travelling, street and when I want to be inconspicuous :)

I know I'm a bit late to the party considering this video was made 6 years ago, but I used the B&W Day settings at a wedding yesterday and the jpegs straight out of the camera were fantastic. I was only there as a guest, not a photographer but everyone loved the photos. I just posted them untouched or cropped to a family WhatsApp chat. I tried tinkering with a couple of RAW images, but the amount of work I would needed to have done to get them anywhere near as good as the jpegs just wasn't worth it. Thanks Kevin

Great video to see that the 56mm mk2 is not exclusively for strictly portait shoots :) I have it for now and I’m comparing it to the sigma 56mm, I’m on the fence about which one to keep. The sigma is lighter smaller and more silencious AF, but the aperture ring and the « something special » of the Fuji are good points for the latter.
@kevin_mullins

I've not tried the Sigma lenses so can't compare but the Fuji 56 certainly has a charm about it.

Thank you, Kevin!!! These are all great but Lighthouse is KILLER! It's now my absolute favorite B&W recipe. Just took it for a spin today in my X100V and wow, it's got a real FP4 vibe to it, with lots of contrast without losing the subtle tones in between. And the way it responds to different light conditions, it's almost indistinguishable from film. BTW I've found that +1/3 EV is pretty much spot on all the time.

Stunning as always, Kev. What never ceases to amaze me is that no matter how close you get with that 18mm, nobody in any part of the frame is looking at you. Do you avoid making eye contact?

Thanks, Alex. I don't purposefully avoid eye contact but I try and be as discreet as possible and I don't "spray and pray" so I'm rarely in one place for more than a second.
