If Government cannot provide any privileges to Tax Payers (ie only 1.5) , can't it be abolished ? Government can recover its revenues by enhancing indirect Taxes. Take the example of UAE . They don't have concept of income tax, but it's a flourishing robust economy . And it's Sooner becoming the third largest economy in the world 🎉

Tax payers feel like they are scapegoats. You should make ppl feel responsible instead of feeling punished.That can happen if you provide them health insurance,free schooling for their kids, pension, etc like how other countries do.

If only 1.5% population pay IT, why so comlicated rules? Make it simple and very simple with one page act and half page rules. Alternatively abolish IT with compulsary return filing for those having income say more than 25 lakhs irrespective of its spurce. Another way would be to tax all at vey low rate ranging from 5% to 10% in three slabs for all source of Income.

as a finance minister, she did a good job atleast this fiscal, the fiscal deficit is under 5.6, NPA percentage has reduced a lot and if RBI issues a rate cut we might control the inflation as well

We middle class citizens are milking cows for collection of direct and indirect taxes for the government. Government is engaging in only verbiages. It's a pain for us.

These guys talk only about income tax, what about tons of GST that a common man pays on everything.

We get small salary They don't China manufacturer job salary 40k . India manufacturers salary 11k with over time . Tax payers are low in india.

Phase out the higher denomination currency circulation slowly like 2000 and 500 notes. This willl force people to b go for digital transaction. In 5 years time.. country should be able to run fully on digital transactions with very minimal cash circulation Only then data can be mined to find tax defaulters and IT can slap them with penalties. Freeze their bank digital transfers if they do not pay tax Stringent measures should be taken

What that 1.5 percent people getting in return? In western countries service man retires at age of 67 years and get pension also. Whether this or that Government, they have failed to create jobs-inflation. Developed countries has home loan at 4% and here 10 percent, what a irony...

When there is 62% of Indians are working class and 25% of them working in Govt & Organized private sectors, how come onlt 1.5% is paying tax. Aren't these Govt employees & private job holders paying taxes?? Need clarity on this. And most of the small & medium business people are file their ITR every year so they won't come under tax payment in India?
