Really nice, as always. Can you tell me which whipping tool you use? I like how sturdy your working portion is, the one I'm using not nearly as thick or sturdy, and I understand that that are applications for both thick and thinner. As always, thank you. Nick in Redfield Arkansas.

Just viewed a couple of your videos. Material list provided. Simple tutorial. More of a dry fly fisherman but I acknowledge up to 80% trout diet is subsurface. Looking to introduce scuds and nymphs as I like to fish late fall/winter in the Mid-Atlantic. Subscribed. Will look for more. Thanks.

Great video man! Well lit, good camera work and great narration/instruction!! What vise are you using? I've never tied before but am looking to start. Would you happen to have a "gear video" where you show what tools (vise, bobbin, scissors, etc...) you use? Would you mind making one if you don't?! Thanks and God bless! Tight lines!!

Research the Nor-vise, Norm Norlander on KZfaq. I have had mine for about 30 years and absolutely love it!!! I learned on a traditional vise and tied that way for about 5 years then got introduced to the Nor-vise at a local Fly Shop and no need to go back. Nor-vise tie better flies faster!. Your Welcome

Man I dig you style! I used to only tie for bass, and am now learning how crucial it is to be precise with trout flies. I really like your pace I feel like I could tie along. I’ve never seen anyone start their thread base that way cuts down on waste for sure.

I'm definitely trying this today! For some reason, I can't master the basic egg pattern, as my yarn gets all stringy and thin when I make my cut (even using the straw method). This might be easier for me. Plus, the glue seems to make it all more robust. Thanks!

Do you have to use super glue or can I use UV glue?
@skylerhardman1227
@skylerhardman1227 Жыл бұрын
The UV resins that I have tried don't seem to adhere well to the hook and after a short time the egg falls apart. Super glue is the best thing I have found. That said, if you find UV resin that sticks well to the hook, use it!

Funny you should ask. I've toyed around with the concept a lot, and I like fishing them that way a lot. I have plans to make that video one day, I just need to play around with it more. I did find that reversing the bead worked better for tying.
