The first gear got a workout, mum had a Austin A40 that did not make it up a country lane hill and had to roll back down the hill not a fun experience for her, I loved it I was about 8 at the time,

I know the feeling well. When my Father came back from WW2 he bought an Armstrong Syddeley car. Looked great but the engine had seen better days and the same thing happened to him. I was 5 at the time. Cheers Michael

I was a little concerned when I saw the two vehicles coming down so slowly and yes the old Citroen van was interesting. One or two spots of rust but doing the job well. Cheers Michael

My poor Muriel couldn't make it up. It was hot and the tarmac fresh so the front wheel (the only powered wheel) just spun and slipped. A buggy gave me a lift up to the viewing place. I'm pleased it brought back some memories for you. Cheers Michael

It is a shame the camera doesn't show just how steep it really but the two hairpin bends so close gives you an idea. The beaches are many, great, and almost totally deserted. Regards Michael

The same boat we had the first time we did the Caledonian. I thought she handled very well considering they don't have bow thrusters due to their age. We weren't so lucky with mooring spaces at Fort Augustus as the canal was pretty busy and there were also a lot of yachts underway.

Thank you once again. Will this method work when there’s ice and the water dispenses but the ice stops dispensing?
@michaelchartres
@michaelchartres 7 күн бұрын
Yes it will. When the ice bucket is full the arm that swings down touches the ice and stops more water coming through. The the freezing problem starts again. I have a 2nd video I made when I discovered what the real problem is. Cheers Michael

Hello Michael. My prior knowledge or lack thereof, had me believing that Ireland was constantly battered by Atlantic storms and otherwise consisted of dirty cities. How wrong I have been, it is idyllic. I loved the seemingly lost meanderings in today's video, great fun. Take care. David.

From a cloudy day to a sunny day and Ireland looks even more beautiful. We have a small outcrop of basalt columns here but they are horizontal. It is in amongst a long extinct volcano. As you say, strange what nature does. Nice little walking pace train, and as you once told me that when a bottle is opened the contents should be consumed as soon as possible I am wondering, did you? cheers, David.

Firstly Michael, I can see why Ireland is known as the Emerald Isle, it is beautiful in it's fresh lush greenery. second I find it difficult to comprehend an 8 hour ferry trip, surely it isn't that far? Cheers, David.
@michaelchartres
@michaelchartres 15 күн бұрын
Thanks for catching up all 3 Episodes David. I can see two more comments from above. The route os the longest, abot 155 nautical miles so the ship has to make up to 20 knots bearing in mind it is slow going into Belfast for quite a distance. Whe the crossing? It is the only crossing (unless you go all the way up to Strammar) from the UK to the UK. The other shorter crossing go from the UK to the EU. Hope that explains. When I come over next time I shall go from Holyhead. Cheers Michael

So many in fact that I have filled my SD cards each day and have had to move hundreds of clips onto an external hard drive because the internal drive was full. The entire place is fantastic. You have the ultimate patience Michael I try where possible to avoid all crowds as I am not a people person by nature, I'm glad you at least found a spot where you could spend a night and I expect you are looking forward to being on site the following day as I always am, an interesting trip this time, I hope you are not letting Monty have too much Bushmills as you'll give him the hiccups, I have never had Bushmills so I'll take your word for it that it's good, best wishes take care, Colin.

@michaelchartres 22 күн бұрын
Firstly thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Monty is confined to Pop and a sip of wine. If you are a whisky (whiskey in Ireland) it is worth a try. Like all Irish whiskeys it is 3 tines distilled and generally not made with maltred barley, hence it tends to be much smoother.. Regards Michael
