Intuition tells me that each blade should only be half as long, axially. As it stands now, the downdraft from when a blade is on top probably cheats the intake to the lower blade. REF: helicopters with 2 opposite rotating blades on one main shaft.

I’d think it would tumble in the straight configuration. I’ve never seen a perfectly straight flying wing. Don’t you need some sweep to retain pitch authority? (I absolutely Love the overall concept.)

Why don't you just add LEDs to the wing and make them light up/down to signify the orientation? Would have been much simpler than all of that mechanical stuff. A big arrow is kind of funny, though..

For combat consider moving motors to trailing edge of rotors and reverse propellers to push rather than pull. This may provide some protection from impact on the leading edges of the wings.

How did you calculate the angle of the blades? Is there a standard angle in helicopter design? Is it just 45 degrees?

@@NicholasRehm if you already have the accelerometers in the x, y and z direction, then I think you can know the speed the phone is drifting and counteract it.
