Nice video. This series is a cool concept I personally haven’t seen anywhere else- I have a small vanilla-friendly mod called BetterBlobs Natives & Institutions that may interest you. It completely fixes the ahistorical institution spread and fixes the natives in America snowballing. It adjusts colonization speed & slows down colonization based on the climate, so places such as Africa and Guinea aren’t often colonized every single time. It also helps a few of the AIs charter trade companies (not something the AIs normally do, interestingly) and adjusts the dynamic between settled and ‘tribal’ provinces without institutions. It also makes the institutions more Eurocentric, not having African tribes as advanced as Europe every time. The mod is meant to be dynamic, not railroaded, but I made as many minor improvements to specific issues I saw that I could PS: with releasing Maine later in the video-You could go in the rebel tab maybe and try to release the native tribes instead of vassalizing them?

Sounds interesting! I usually play mod-less, but this is certainly an interesting prospect. I have quite a few more series planned for the future, and my very next series is/will be: Portugal-to-Brazil, perhaps I could use your mod for that series. Thanks!
@hunkulous1462

Nice. That could definitely be interesting. The base game does a very interesting job simulating climates and weather in my opinion, and the mod essentially uses those weather modifiers to make colonization much harder (especially before the 1500-1600s) in certain provinces based on climate/weather, but since global settler increase scales with diplomatic technology, provinces with severe monsoon and ‘tropical’ climate would be the hardest and most expensive for a nation to colonize. I’m about to do a large update in 3 days, that mostly attempts to adjust the AI of European nations with colonial ideas so those nations can have the ability to focus more on establishing trade protectorates, and trade companies corresponding to their mission trees, as well as making the (AI) Ottomans use their non diplo-relation consuming eyalets, to allow for an even more agressive ottomans, but allow for a more interesting late game Ottoman Empire decline/collapse- With a Brazil campaign with the mod-that could be very interesting. The deep Amazon would definitely be tricky to colonize, in my AI-only campaigns where I observer-mode the game running until 1836, that is the main region the AI struggles to colonize, besides the Ivory Coast and near Guinea-(which I would say is historical to not be completely colonized during the time period of EU4.) Although it might also be historically accurate for deep Amazon Brazil to have little actual colonial settlements and is mostly a territory of Brazil defacto, my mod already allows for the Eu4 name on the world map of settled nations to spread to claimed ‘tribal’ or ‘unsettled’ provinces that lack any significant institutions while still being able to be colonized-(similar to how the name of EU4 natives when they have tribal land expands beyond their actual ‘owned’ provinces). Whatever you decide to do-vanilla or not that seems fun, I don’t know much about Brazilian history but I remember in EU4 there is some interesting circumstances that are modeled pretty well in my opinion by events and mission trees (ex: Portuguese monarchy exile to Brazil)

@@hunkulous1462 Loving all these thoughts, thank you! I will definitely give the mod a shot, because not only do I like what you're doing with it, but also the attention you're paying to historical accuracy. Africa (for example) wasn't "heavily" colonized (as I understand it) until like the mid 1800s, during the "scramble for Africa." This is a concept that Victoria 3 even has as decisions/events, and yet in EU4 (set prior to Vic 3 obviously) Africa is VORACIOUSLY colonized. In my Vic3 France run, I ran into the same problems with aggressive colonization outside of time, and by non-historically accurate actors.

If you don't mind me asking a possibly insensitive question: what is the given reason for celebration? I'm not saying there isn't or shouldn't be one, I'm literally curious as to what it is. Blowing up the King and Parliament was certainly not a kind nor heroic act (imo) but it was arguably attempted (from my limited knowledge) as a protest against Catholic persecution. So the celebration is then.. for what? No judgment at all, it is a true and curious question on my part.
@Minipipy
@Minipipy 26 күн бұрын
@@AdmiralJediPDX To be honest, i'm not really sure! It may be a celebration that it wasn't successful and that it was foiled? If it had gone ahead, it would certainly have changed a lot for us, so perhaps by making us remember Guy Fawkes, and that it didn't go well, it was meant to deter people from trying something similar in the future?

Hi PDX, unfortunately i had to downvote ur video. Reasons: I stumbled upon ur video and expected some historical CK3 gameplay. Well instead i was watching for over 20mins on a pause screen without any gameplay at all. In fact if u only uploaded screenshots while talking about what u have, or havent done (nobody knows because nobody saw it) would have been the same. Also the introduction with "im not here to teach u the game" isnt a friendly introduction to begin with and well...i dont mind if u dont "teach" the game, at the 14min mark it would have been enough if u at least play it. So if u intend to continue that kind of format pls name the title "a lot of talking with some ck3 screenshots in behind"

I'm not 100% sure, but a few things come to mind: 1) I'm fanatical about building (actual structures) in my domains. And also keep in mind that these games are coming fairly late in the timeframe (when a lot of people quit and start over) so I have high levels of innovation which open up more advanced buildings. 2) I personally try to budget no more than 50% of my revenue to be expended on military. Whereas a lot of other people are playing #SteamrollTheWorld, remember I'm not, so I don't have a huge military. Rarely am I trying to take more than one duchy at a time ever, and so I don't need huge armies. My own good army and 1-2 strong alliances do me just fine. 3) I *HATE* not having gold, so any time I can adjust a vassal contract to increase gold (vs increase levies) I do it. Thanks for watching!

Were there no other female claimants to Aquitaine you could marry Henry II off to? There are usually a bunch of claimants to Kingdom/Ducal titles once you've been playing awhile. Also, re. Ireland there is a decision that gives the King of England claims on all of the emerald isle. I think it requires full control of England & Wales. You are almost spot on with the Beyond the Pale term. The Pale was considered the Palisade of a medieval fort, beyond which the rabble or uncivilised folk resided. That part of Ireland that was controlled and settled by the Normans and latter English, was considered "The Pale", because it was the "fortress" demesne, beyond which the "uncivilised" and resistent Irish lived. To go beyond this area of Ireland over which the proto-English had control, might have seemed unreasonable or unimaginable. Dangerous. The Pale in Ireland was likely named for the concept of the fort palisade and the saying *may* have related to that.

I DO in fact have France as a historical series going forward through Victoria 3 and HOI4, but to go BACK and do France (at this point) would be difficult. A couple of comments: 1) I obviously wasn't there LOL so I can't say, but 2) it comes right out of Churchill's book Birth of Britain which is my primary source material, and 3) people in those ages (and for hundreds of years after still) IDOLIZED the Greek and Roman heroes of classic times, and were all very educated on those classics. He died age 105 and I've married his grand daughter. She was also the grand daughter of Jarl Halfdan, arch-enemy of my grandfather, Alfred the Great. She grew up as a hostage in his court and bullied me as a child, but we were also somehow childhood sweethearts. I had been married off to a "Slow" wife in the name of a strong alliance and ended up with 3 "Slow" children so I remarried her and brought peace and unity between Dane and Saxon.
