Thank you for the video! I was able to install a SAN Disk ssd on a dell 15R laptop. My HDD didn't have a metal cage, but the ssd came with a spacer which I had to use to fit it in place. After installation, I got a Checking media (fail)" ON BOOT. Followed the following step to resolve it. Hope it helps someone facing the same issue. 1. Hit F2 right when the Dell Logo pops up. 2. Use your arrow keys to move to the tab named "Boot" 3. Select, with the arrow keys so that the text named "UEFI Boot" is White colored in font. 4. Navigate to the bottom, where it should say Windows Boot Manager 5. Hit F5 or 56, to move it up and down the list until you get the settings to be like: Windows Boot Manager UEFI Onboard LAN IPv4 UEFI Onboard LAN IPv6 6. Hit F10, and your system will reboot, without that annoying message showing up. Show less

What do you do if your laptop version has an actual disc drive as opposed to a place holder? Can it still be opened this way?

Very well shot and described. Acer & other companies that design their PC's like this should be ashamed for making it so difficult to replace simple components like RAM & hard drives.

EXCELLENT instructional video!!! I just bought an ES1-531-C6FQ, mainly because our old ACER bit the dust and this was the cheapest one I could find. But this is definitely a slow machine with Windows 10, so I'm going to upgrade to 8 GB of RAM. Thanks for the video, Rich.

+Rich Reviews hey i got the same model 2 years ago but i recently got overwatch, it runs well but can it run even better? since overwatch requires at least a core i3 or i5 (idk) and 4GB RAM to Run. could it run on an Intel Celeron Processor N2830 with 8 GB RAM and that SSD, could this computer run even better than a core i3 laptop with these specs? its that i got it 2 years ago when i was 13 years old (lol im 15 and already a computer geek XD) and i wasn't such a computer geek 2 years ago and i bought it blindly, and i noticed my mistake and desided to start learning about computers and there processors, Hard Drives, RAMs, stuff like that. since now i found this video and the other video, this pc will finally get the upgrade i wanted thanks X3 Btw i'd like to thank my dad for helping me learn these things lol

I have a similar laptop like this but the ES1-531 series with the Pentium n3700 quad core Braswell cpu. What are your load times on the SSD? I recently upgrade my 1TB HDD to a 256GB Samsung PM810/470 Series SSD and the load times are so good. 12 seconds from a cold boot and 3 seconds from awake from sleep. 260MB Read and 250 Writes on 4K alignment is so darn good. SATAII though so it's max at 300MB/s Theoretical speeds :/ I wish I can upgrade to sata III 6gbps to get that juicy 500-600MB SSD's
