The original Anime 'Ghost In The Shell' is my all time favourite film. When I heard that there was going to be a hollywood live-action re-make done, I automatically knew it was uncalled for. Then I found out the cast was "white washed" and the intelligence from the original was of course removed, this is hollywood after all, it made me understandably frustrated. Seeing the poster on buses etc. would cause me to be angry, because the very idea of such an intelligent film, turned into a dumbed UP blockbuster off course cannot sit right with me. i even went so far as to see a hypnotist, named morpheus, and he wiped the memory of the re-make from my mind. As a result, I was, for a while at least unable to feel anger. It did not last.

Please release the list of Actors that bug the shit out of you! Some that come to mind that bug the shit out of me or at least turn me off: Keegan-Michael Key, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jada Pinkett Smith, John Cena (feels like a bad acting hulked out version of Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Seth Rogan, John Leguizamo, Don Cheadle sometimes, Tobey Maguire, and the king of annoying Pauley Shore.

"Cold Pursuit" is one of my favorite movies! You may have been thinking of "The Ice Road"?. I recently ordered movies from the Barnes & Noble Criterion sale and regret two of the blind purchases, "Thief" which is a good movie and I did watch it to the end, just not my cup of tea. Also, "The Element of Crime", I could only watch about 20 minutes and if I had known it was from the same director of "Dogville" I would not have ordered it. I'm not an avant-garde fan I guess. Can you do a video of what you consider to be "sleepers"? One of my picks would be "The Merry Gentleman" with Michael Keaton. Thanks for an interesting video.

I watch a lot of videos like this because it's interesting to see what others like or dislike. Pretty much all of your titles in this one would not interest me either. I totally get your point about some being good films, but you'd never see them again (JOKER, for example). That's an important factor for me as a collector. I rarely blind buy, unless it's to fill an order to get free shipping in a few cases. If I research a film and it sounds like a single-watch title for me, I'm likely to pass. Blind buying is very risky. I will experiment in certain genres, as you say, for me the main one is Film Noir, but at this point I have, or have seen, all the the significant Film Noirs, or Neo-Noirs (with a few exceptions in the latter). Many of your titles here are in genres that don't interest me. But to each his own. Thanks for your insights and discussion

Well setting aside my general distaste for Joaquin overall, I still thought Joker was a decent film. I didn't think it was a bad movie... I was even fairly engaged when I was first watching it. But it's just not the kind of movie that I would necessarily want to re-watch very many times. BTW, what are your thoughts on the sequel coming out with Lady Ga Ga? Isn't it supposed to be kind of a musical or something? Are you looking forward to it? Thanks for dropping a comment and of course for watching! Great to hear from you.

I generally don't "regret" too many blind buys. I have a pretty good feel for my tastes by now & heck, a blu-ray (or even a 4k after 6 months) is really not anymore than seeing something in a theater - which is almost always a "blind rental".

You need to give more details about why you didn't like a movie. Saying the same thing over and over about not liking it gives us no insight as to the movie's contents, or the reasons for your reaction. "I could not get into this movie at all..." is the best we get.

I like Ghost In The Shell, I feel that it has some relevance to what Ai might be capable of. Anything with a realistic warning to our future I like. Battlestar Galactic 2004 is my favourite TV series of all time due partly to that fact. Joaquin Phoenix bugs me too, I mainly like him in Signs though. Joker I didn't really like, I would like to see a similar version of Harley Quinn however. I haven't seen Black Phone, if you want to get rid of it send it to me, I'll take a look. Sleepaway Camp I couldn't get through it. Now Sucker Punch, I don't like the film, but I've watched it about 20 times... you will never guess why? Because the film syncs to a David Guetta album.. Nothing But The Beat. And when you sync it to that album the film is now amazing! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qsyUn5Wq0beUeIU.htmlsi=GWdaJRemynu1w3BI&t=660

I did like that Battlestar Galactica 2004 series... I watched the whole series. I wasn't the biggest fan of Katee Sackhoff, but outside of her, I really enjoyed that series. I also agree Joaquin was tolerable in Signs... I didn't mind him in that so much. I'm not familiar with David Guetta, but I'll check him out... I'm a big music guy, so I'm always on the lookout for cool new stuff (or new to me). Thanks for watching and chiming in!

I'm in the same boat with normally not liking Joaquin Phoenix. I do like him a lot in Signs. He was also interesting in To Die For (1995). Everything else, he seems to be overacting and really pretentious in real life when being interviewed in the last 20 years.

Sleepaway Camp is like a sex comedy version of Friday the 13th, the sequel even more so. If only you had the slipcover you'd make $30 on Ebay for it, the sequel goes for $120 thanks to the extra nudity. Enemies Closer I like as a "so bad, it's good" film. If you ever get into anime don't avoid watching Ghost in the Shell due to the live action film, it's one of the greatest anime of all time.

Most of my blind-buy regrets have been titles I picked up at Dollar Tree. There have been a few that I regret because I wasn't a big fan of movie to begin with or it did stand the test of time and no longer like. A couple would be Evil Dead 1 & 2 4Ks. I doubt I will ever watch them again.

Well if it's any consolation, the enthusiasm here from everybody for Sicario is kind of starting to make me wonder if maybe I should give it another watch... just to see if I feel any differently about the re-watchability factor. LMAO!😆 Because I did think it was a good movie... it's just not the kind of film I would normally watch repeatedly. But yep, most of the titles in my collection that have been blind buys are movies that I can see myself watching at least a couple other times in my life. That's kind of my measuring stick. If it's not something I think I'll ever watch again, then it counts as some kind of "regret" -- although I now find myself questioning my inclusion of Sicario here... at least on the main list. I probably should've stuck it in my honorable mentions section instead... since I was a little less sure about some of those. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment! Great to see you Daniel!

Kudos for unexpected but refreshing topic, much enjoyed, thank you. My modest little collection of 3 years has around 20 blind buys with about 6 I regret. Salt in wound is that most of the regrets had/have really good reviews that influenced me, from top critics to general public. They are: Last Night in Soho 4k: Too ghost story genre for me, I'm over that at my old age, but beautiful cinematography. Mission Impossible Fallout 4k: Too gimmicky, stunts on steroids, overdose on Tom Cruise. In Bruges: Protagonist crook accidentally kills child, and I'm supposed to have empathy and laugh at his humor rest of movie, NO. SKyfall: Found storyline/action ridiculously over the top last 1/3 of film. The Bourne Ultimatum: Liked Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum ran out of steam for me. Memories of Murder (Criterion): Parts were good, some ridiculous, yellow/green color grading awful, along with flat contrast. RE, your picks...I totally love Sicario, one of my first 4ks, seen multiple times:)

I was with you until Enemies Closer. That was also a blind buy for me, but Van Damme's performance is the reason I've seen it about five times. I've had viewing parties with friends to show them how unhinged his performance was in this. The rest of the film is average, but Van Damme is doing what he can to elevate it, it's almost a Nic Cage-ian approach to the material. On a side note, I literally just bought a used Bluray copy of Outland yesterday as I had never seen it. I watched it last night, and couldn't believe that I had never seen this film. Loved the way it was shot, and the sets and effects were great. Would love to see a Vinegar Syndrome or Umbrella give that film the deluxe treatment. Great video though, and your love for movies really shines through.

I’m still happy that I own it, though. I really enjoyed Sicario, but I don’t find myself returning to that one too often either. Sicario was such a well acted film and did a great job blending suspense and action and basically seeing the view point of various players in the movie... I loved it and don't usually love these types of films... I own it and it's one of the few films in this genre I love. But I love the Joaquin Phoenix "bugged the shit out of me" I totally agree, I feel like Joker is so over rated and Joaquin is one of those actors I want to like, but haven't liked one single film he's acted in...
