Hi Kerry, how do get on with the pedal kayak? I’m mid sixties and use my kayak for spearfishing sparingly because I find the paddling very, very hard work. I have more confidence in my legs and was wondering about one of these? I enjoy your videos, Paul
@KerryFlowers4 күн бұрын
Yeah, I find it easier than paddling, I do find that if I go long distances my knees hurt by the end so maybe worth seeing if you can try one before you go out and buy one. Cheers!!!

Rawe video Kerry. Be awesome to see you come down to the Hawkes Bay and do a vid. I’ve done about 20 dives now but you and Ollie were the first youtubers i come across and have definitely inspired me to carry on and i absolutely love getting out in the moana.

Hey Kerry as one kaitiaki to another I do hope you don't usually use your iki Knife to get paua off, they are hemophiliacs so any nick from a sharp knife is enough to kill them even taking them off by hand risks damaging them. MPI will give you a proper plastic paua knife if you pop into their office so there is no excuse. Keep up the great videos but do try to show good practice.😊👍
@KerryFlowers4 күн бұрын
I only use my knife if I am sure that they are of legal size, usually after diving for a bit I get my eye in for size and then will use the knife. I have had those plastic paua knives but end up losing them. Cheers!!!

fuck you have some balls going at night bro, what keeps you so relaxed and not worried about other species cause i just started diving and it aint the easiest fear to get over but it does make it exciting for sure lol
@KerryFlowers4 күн бұрын
I guess it is just many years of diving and realizing that the species that are active during the day are likely pretty quiet during the night. Cheers!!!

Tbh if your worried about breeding it'd make more sense to leave the female and take the buck only takes one buck to fertilise eggs but one female can produce hundreds of eggs
@KerryFlowersАй бұрын
Ok so I didn't do a good job of explaining it but a female cray will only mate with a male crayfish that has a bigger body than her so that is why it is important to leave the big males alone. Cheers!!!
@jarrodhape4011Ай бұрын
That’s something new I thought the eggs would be fertilised regardless of the size of the buck, interesting appreciate the educating Kerry top man 🤙🤙

A great New Zealand spear fishing video. Hey Kerry put key words in each of your videos in the description to get more viewers, For example - #NewZealandspearfishing , #NewZealandkayakspearfishing just cut and paste and this will bring more viewers to your channel to grow it.
@KerryFlowersАй бұрын
Cheers for the tip, i'll give it a go on the next video!
@user-zx8du3ik2jАй бұрын
Great video as always! next time you go out at night, if you need to use both hands to iki the fish, try and push your torch into your hoodie on the one side, the tension from the hoodie should keep the torch in place and act as a side mounted head lamp - we do this a lot when working on scuba at night.
@KerryFlowersАй бұрын
This is a great idea! Thanks for that, Cheers!!!
