Walk away...Or start with the most difficult repairs. Doing the easy ones now with obtainable panels will, as you say, be wasted if you decide to stop. In this way it will also be easier and easier :)

If you get an extra thousand patreons you will have to speed up your credits! Save it, don't weld it up to look pretty where no one can see it, just weld it solid, isn't sheet metal cheaper than factory panels?

If…you want to take on repairing the cowl/firewall/scuttle area, check out Soup Classic Motoring. He did similar repairs to his W123 on a fascinating to watch stop motion style. No idea how he does it, but great to watch. Your poor car is pretty far gone though. Quite a task. Good luck

Those inner front wings are grim. The whole project depends on whether you really think you can repair them well. If you don't then it's not viable.

The front areas you exposed by taking the wings off look really bad with limited reference points left. I would start here because if it’s too far gone, you’ll find out quickly. Don’t be tempted to waste time and energy doing the easier bits first! Yes I am very dull and very sensible. You’ll need to be super committed to see this one through and I’m just not sure if it’s your kind of project. But if you go for it, we’d all love to see it

That's a nightmare. Those inner wings and firewall are doomed. I'm amazed it hasn't gone banana shaped already. Swap the good bits into your brother in laws 240D!

12:36 I think this is what would be quite literally a _bottomless_ money pit if you ever had the terrible idea to try to save it. Here you don't need to look for repair panels... no my friend, even if every single one was available, you still didn't needed them. What you need here is a replacement body, as a whole...

I forgot to mention, I still don't understand, how it could have a valid MOT in a country which is not in Africa or somewhere in the US where there is no MOT at all...

Rent or borrow a truck and come to visit Finland. I’m up to sell my property within a year and I have two sedan shells (and ton of other stuff for w/s123) for you wich have solid stuff at the firewall area. Approx 80 km from Turku. And yes, really cheaply.

We have an electric mower and a string trimmer. They are very nice to work with and I like how non-fussy they are to use. I still keep the old petrol (gasoline) powered ones around because there are times when I need to run them for several hours at a time and the (multiple) batteries just don't last that long.

When you have finally replaced every rotten panel, you will have replaced all of them. It will just be a new body welded together from various spare parts using the old body as scaffolding. As much as I love and adore W123s, this is not worth it. It's too far gone. You know that rust is like an iceberg, for every bit of rust you can see, there's ten more you can't. This car needs to go to Old Merc Heaven.

Good grief Seppo! I don't think that Odin himself could resurrect this old bus! I truly admire your enthusiasm and skill, but I believe you may as well throw your money into the sea! Best option would be to part it out and recover some of your money, as well as helping other owners restore their Mercs.
