The tool can’t possibly measure anything other than millimeters, because if it measured degrees, it would have to know the distance between the two parts/sides of the tool! So you’re completely right :)

Make sure you have the ground from the engine to the frame hooked up and check the wiring harness by the battery. If it primes the fuel pump when you turn on the high beams, there is a cross in the harness. I say by the battery because of the fumes and acid.

Oh man I have the exact same car of the same faded yellow color with LOTS of electricity (and other) issues. It makes me question my life a lot. Thanks for making these videos mate!

I bought that exact tool last night from biltema. But I wonder why did he not put the new brake fluid straight into the tool? That's how it works, you pump up pressure and it pushes out brake fluid into the reservoir so you don't have to worry about accidentially draining the reservoir and getting air in from above.

It gets messy and it will overfill the reservoir so you have to remove some.. I like to just add pressure to the system and then keep an eye on it :)

it might be smart to check the alignment after a short drive, because when u lower the car on something the wheels usualy dont slide in their natural position. Or maybe lower them on the trolleys with wheels.

Love that alignment tool👍🏼 my first rwd car was a 68 Triumph Spitfire and I remember spending ages trying to work out the toe in only to find it should be zero! Was the same with my 78 Spit and is also the case with my 65 Herald, I made my own tool, have two pieces of good quality aluminium angle 6 foot long that I bolt to the wheels with some modified wheel nuts and spacers so space it over the tyre and then literally measure the distance at either end of the aluminium, if it’s the same there’s no toe in and if I’m setting an an angle i use a bit of trigonometry to work out the measurements. It seems to work ok😂 When I first used it I did get a tyre fitting garage to check, the guy laughed when I told him what I’d done but was amazed that it was pretty much bang on to the point it was not worth adjusting!!! My Mercedes 190e daily however has a quoted toe in angle of 0.33 total which is near as damn it zero. Hope you’ve not got a iffy loom there👍🏼

My alignment shop always checks tire pressure before alignment. But maybe this is just for camber and castor.

I use the 'piece of string method' to track/align the front wheels.

Could be a bad earth for the starter. Run another earth from engine block to body or even better straight to battery

Hi great video, just noticed stones in the tread of the front passenger tyre. But one looks like a nail or screw, as it's in the middle of a gap. Please check the tyres. We care about you and want you safe for your immediate family and your you tube family. All the best

Are you sure that you refitted correctly the main ground wire to the engine? Otherwise the starter return current will flow in all the wrong places.

My goto alignment on these are close to 0 toe, though i run alot of negative camber due to track use. Did you measure the camber first?

In a front wheel drive car you actually want a little toe out.

What colour do you think this porsche was originally? Is there any evidence of it in the boot or inside a door or underneath the bonnet sound deadening? Has the build sticker in the boot been destroyed or removed? Is the earth/ground wire in good condition?

Not sure what the color is called, but light gray id say :) Have not checked the sticker :)

@SeasideGarage If the sticker is still there it'll tell you everything about the car. I think it may be a lux model because of the alloys but they might have been added on at some point. Did you get the car started? It sounded like it might have a bad earth to me but I'm just guessing. I've done it myself before, forgetting the engine earth when reinstalling the motor then wondering why it won't start.

@@SeasideGarage Specifikationerne siger 0 grader +5 -15 minutter. Min erfaring efter 30 år som mekaniker siger mig aldrig stille noget nul, specielt ikke på en gammel bil, der har et miks af nye uoriginale og gamle halvslidte komponenter. helt personligt havde jeg nok stillet den - 5 minutter for at få lidt forspænding på alle komponenter, når bilen kører

Hard luck on the electrical problems. Worst job ever! On the wheel alignment you should really move the car forward before checking it, each time you adjusted it. That settles the steering and suspension into its normal working position. You might need to check it finally once you get the old girl running. I commented on your original video about the Dunlop toe-in gauge that we used to use the same tool back in the 1960s, mainly on RWD cars (Vauxhalls, same as Opels etc). And yes, we always measured toe-in / toe-out as a distance, not a degree measurement. Hope you get the electrics sorted soon! Les in UK 🇬🇧
