I failed Calculus twice and lost my financial aid due to it. I'm a Computer Science and Physics major, doing my third year at the moment. Losing my financial aid has now left me with a huge amount of student loan.

I think I’m in need of the support of fellow mechanical engineering students. I’m in my 6th year. I have failed so much guys. I live alone and am trying to make this happen. I know I gotta keep going but I’m crushed. I keep passing by the skin of my teeth but I’m at the end of my rope and failing this semester. I dont want to keep thinking I’m dumb and stupid but those thoughts do creep in as I keep pushing. Would you be willing to give me one more push?

Great video. Its a key to be persistent. I took Calc 1 3 times and passed on the third try with a C. Last semester i dropped Calc 2 for the second time after getting a 20% on my midterm. It was very humbling. I knew i was smart but it just didn't click and i was angry at myself. I didnt study or get help. This semester, i applied myself, went in for help when i needed it, asked questions, went to tutoring center on weekends. on both midterms this semester i got 111%. I completed most of my homework assignments except for 3. I'm set to pass Calc 2 this semester whether i take the final or not and only need a 55% to get an A in the class.

My son also failed Calc in high school . We got him a tutor and by the time he was in university he passed his exams with ease.If parents kept an eye on their children's progress , they can help or find help to improve the child's understanding of difficult concepts.

Man I've failed in my electrical circuit-2 course. I've never failed in my academic life before. it is destroying me and my confidence . so I've to attend a supplementary exam next month to finish my 1st year.After completing my engineering degree i'll be back here .Thanks for sharing your story.

Hey man, I'm watching this at a not so great point in my second semester. First semester went well, but seven courses are beginning to kick my ass right now. No fails on my midterms, but not so great grades (I'm transferring to another school and need decent grades). I wanted to thank you for this video and this message, I want to pursue engineering to express my creativity and dreams. From what I see, I guess persisting even through the terrible will get me there! Also, I know this is a couple years delayed, but congrats on your PhD Dr Kong! :)

My second year I had 8 courses that I had failed. Took me 5.5 years to finish a 3 year degree. Am i joking? No I was just not supposed to be an engineer. My lifesbiggest mistake.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I was behind the curve getting into university. Failed Cal I twice, Calc III once. After enough work, I become competent enough in the area. Now I have a few degrees in Comp Sci / Math. Been well employeed for over a decade now. Just ended up being a tiny bump in the road. That bump was mainly my ego.

Update: I passed Calculus 1 and now taking Calc 2!

I’m in AP Calc AB right now. I’m so lost and have no direction it feels for my life. I desperately want to complete a biochem major and be a neurosurgeon, but I don’t know how I can. Almost all my cousins are engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc. I don’t know what to do. How am I so dumb in a family of practical geniuses? I’m not quite failing, but I’m barely making it through. I need help but I don’t know how to ask or even get it. I’m trying so, so hard, but I just don’t think I’m enough. I really really want to be a neurosurgeon to help people with illness so many of my family members suffered and even died with, but I just don’t know if I can. I’m senior now and just trying to hold on. I just want guidance. I just want somewhere to go to get help and hope

this video really hit home for me, i’m watching hours after a physics final that i’m pretty sure i failed. it’s my second time around taking calc 1 and physics 1 and i’ve honestly been feeling super anxious and depressed lately because i just didn’t want to mess up again but it feels like no matter how much effort i put in it just doesn’t pay off. i knew i wanted to do engineering since i was 7 years old and sometimes it feels like i’m not cut out for it but this video has made me see that others have faced similar struggles and have overcome, it’s given me the motivation to keep trying <3

Thank you for posting this It truly warms my heart to know that I am not the only one feeling like a failure on my final year of pharmacy school. I am literally going back and forth over if I am really competent to study therapeutics and experimental pharmacology even after getting accepted to top universities like UCL and KCL. I am currently scoring so horribly low on these subjects in my final year of undergraduate and I may possibly lose my rank among my class that I've worked for so hard. It breaks my heart to feel that all my undergraduate work is going down the drain infront of my eyes and I could have never imagined myself in the position I'm in right now. I keep asking myself "what is this trying to teach me? " I've come to the conclusion that I really never had any tangible academic experiences that involved failure. Although the courses I am taking now are tough and hard, but I feel that it is my fault I am not attaining the grades I want. I've studied nights, days and weeks and barley scored a passing grade. Thank you for sharing this because I am learning that this is a station in our academic journeys that we must stop at and learn something out of. I know this video is old, but it was meaningful to me. I failed a managerial accounting course two times my junior year with a 3.3 GPA. Absolutely devastating. The class was a true roadblock and it can happen to anybody. I ended up pushing through, passing the 3rd time, and getting my marketing degree.

I failed 2 years of my course recently and got academically suspended. Im doing EE and at this point I have failed so much I started getting anxiety. I can still get back into it next year and im hoping ill get a steady 4.0 gpa from now on. I was never an A grade student and the thing I lacked the most is my dedication and discipline on studying. I've never put on the hours. I honestly don't see myself doing a different field other than engineering, and engineers are prone to failures. If you're stressed out, just know what really got you into engineering or stem and hold unto it.

Studying mechanical Engineering and struggling with calculus 2, I will more than likely have to take it again. You are motivating me to keep going. I am putting in the hours but feel that it is incredibly overwhelming.

You know I just failed in 1st and 2nd year math and I have 40 days to do supplimentry board papers so I can complete my college and I hope I can do it. Because I always think math is impossible for me but one thing make me pushing to chose this subject is that I want to be an architect or pilot and that's why I chose it and it's not math is impossible for me to understand. I was just afraid of it and not even try but now I will try and clear my papers and it's sep 19 23 and I will come back at Jan 20 and I hope that day I will succeed and clear math papers it will the biggest achievement for me and big step for me in right direction. I failed calc 3 and statics for my graduate program in biomedical Engineering ( I’m a biology major btw). I’ve been suspended and now I’m retaking those courses to prove to myself I’m not a failure and that I can pursue the field I’m passionate about. hey, a civil engineering student. Just failed three courses( one physics, two maths). I didnt tell my parents about my result until recently... i really want to succeed in this field. I have never had a good grade in math but when i see people get it so easy so its like a challenge. Many hourse of hardwork. I am currently on 2.4 gpa. Actually I failed my calculus exam 3 times and I just got a provisional chance from my university but I still feel that maybe I am going to face failure again 😞 as a student of BSIT in Pakistan I think if I dropped out from university I didn't get any job in Pakistan 😭 and realty is that I didn't failed any other coding subject, I just failed calculus continually 😭💔 The fact that why I am failing calculus is my institute 😭 actually I belong to a country where if you get less than 50% in intermediate exams you will be admitted to a group of colleges known as affiliated colleges I was studying in a college which is affiliated with university of Punjab (Pakistan). And when I was in 2nd semester I faced two situations 1: calculus 2:Coved 😭 We lost our loved ones also during the pandemic 😭 and in addition I faced a situation where our university decided to conduct online exams for BS system but they made a rule that the exam will be only based on MCQS so our calculus online toutor just explained MCQS based topics only but being a student the real fear we face is "Studying online and just know only the knowledge of specific MCQS based concepts and giving manual written long subjective type exam in specific exam hall😢" And the more worst situation is that when I failed calculus first time our college,s calculus professor left the college and still there is no one for us to guide us about calculus specially in our institute😭 I have a big dream to become a software developer and to earn enough to support my family but now I feel that everything is going out of my control 😭 Please help me or give me some suggestions that how can I become a software developer and how can I earn enough money to support my family 😭
