Goede review! Groetjes vanuit Antwerpen!

Great video and review, I am looking at the 2-person version of this tent for backpacking. Do you think it will fit between the body and lid/brain of a 50l Osprey Atmos backpack? If so, do you think this would be a good place to carry/balance a tent when backpacking? Thanks

Technically a good tutorial, but DAMN, you have an awful lot of heavy heavy gear…for the hiking newbies, you could shave off at least 5 lbs by switching out a few pieces for smaller lighter weight stuff…they don’t have to be expensive options just different. I’m not an ultra light backpacker…I carry exactly the same items but come in at 22lbs. What you carry on your back is as important as how you carry them. Not trying to troll you, just offering advice for what seems like a lot of beginners in the comments. Just saying…
@OutdoorguruGearReviews11 күн бұрын
Trolling? Nice one, new to me 😀. Thanks for your comment and sure I have lighter stuff and - yes in my case - that stuff is a bit more expensive. I showed this kit because it has been used a lot and has proven to be very durable and therefor also sustainable. I don't know where you are from but things might be a bit cheaper in your part of the globe. So send a list of your gear or even make a video 😉. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

Hi Gijs, I hope you're doing well. Thank you for taking the time to provide this review. I appreciate it; nicely done. Currently, I have an Enan for solo camping and a Nammatj 3 GT. However, since I am not using the Nammatj 3 GT anymore for deep winter or expeditions, I am looking into lighter options. I think the Helags ticks all the boxes, but I would like to see a GT version, to be honest. There is an 800g difference between both the Kaitum and Helags models. Therefore, I guess it will depend on the intended use which one is best. I am thinking of using the tent with my family during spring-autumn in the UK. How does the Helags perform in late autumn and windy environments? Since I use the Enan even in snow-free conditions in winter (I did minor modifications with a small weight penalty), I would be inclined to save the weight and get the Helags. However, going solo and with family are different scenarios. Thank you for your insights. Regards, Guido
@OutdoorguruGearReviews11 күн бұрын
Hi Guido, Thanks for your nice comment and sharing your gear. And sorry for my late reply, but family matters are slowing things down. The Helags... Depending on on weather and wind, It might be a cold for early spring an late autumn. That said.... it depends of course on your other gear and where you will camp. Horizontal rain and hard winds on a plain like Mount Helags... I would prefer a tent with walls to the ground. In a more shelter forest like environment: Helags for sure. Call me if you need to discuss ;-). Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

I understand that the midsole is made of polyurethane, but I am concerned about its long-term durability as it will disintegrate and peel off due to hydrolysis caused by rain, mud, washing, and even if the shoe is unused, reaction with moisture in the air.
@OutdoorguruGearReviews19 күн бұрын
Hi, Don't worry about it too much. Yes, it happens sometimes but taking good care of your shoes prevents a lot. And... most shoes have a PU midsole because of its super damping properties. I hope this helps! Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

Hi Samuel, That is a good question. We don't have a bear 'thing' in Europe. It depends on how big and heavy it is. I would put is close to the back and central. Does this help? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

My Jetboil Stash has failed (gas flow almost zero). I also replaced my original Stash under warranty two years ago. I’m thinking of buying a Windmaster this time, particularly as I do a lot of summit camping in Wales! Perhaps that was the one test you didn’t do but would seem highly relevant - a wind test for the ‘wind master’!

In case this helps someone, the main difference in weight between this and the regular model is the bikepack bag is 109g heavier, 132g vs 23g, so if packing just for hiking, change the bag or don't use one. The poles are 79g heavier, likely because of the extra ferrules needed. Cheers for the review.

44 Nm of torque?¿ Bosch CX has 85Nm...Not a good spec for 10k€ mind you I've never tried it. Anyone that has please comment...maybe the feeling of a mid mounted engine and rear on-wheel engine is different?¿
@drieshuybrechts519426 күн бұрын
I'm still researching for myself but for what I understand is that indeed the mid mounted motors have a lot of loss over the chain/belt and that you'll get to 45km/h with ease with a 44Nm rear motor but not with a 85Nm mid motor.
@zeveroarerules8 күн бұрын
I have a panasonic mid engine with 95Nm, souped up with a badass box. It does get me to 44km/h, but the slightest hill and I have to push harder. That doesn't happen with an ST5 (slightly beefier engine but about the same torque). Rear and back engine, can't really compare :) The effort you put in on a mid engine is way more even with that higher torque. That said, I'm faster of the line with my current bike ;-)

Very thorough review, much appreciated. Seems like an excellent 3-season/no snow 2 person tent. Wouldn't be surprised to see some folks using it as a very roomy one person tent. 70D floor and 20D outer make a combination that's new to me but seems sturdy and most probably well is. Very roomy inside, with dual vestibule space and doors. 4 pockets! ('Hilleberg has listened!', the inner-tent-more-pockets!-afficionados can rejoice. 😉) The price is typically 'Hilleberg steep'. I've found my 'Hilly' (soulo rl) to be worth it though, incredible quality ensuring comfort and a decent sleep, also in gnarly conditions.

This knife came out almost simultaneously with the Condor Otzi knife. I think they were both influenced by the same thought. If a copper aged person could get along with a 2” blade, then it should be fine for the rest of us. It does seem perfectly suited for those small camp tasks that are more detail oriented.
