When the show was going on I always argued that Danny was a villain from the beginning. The audience only saw her as heroic because she was brutalizing "bad" people.

The only thing I'd disagree with is that I think Sansa is more like Ned and Arya is more like Catelyn. I think Sansa is a Ned who has learned from his mistakes and Arya is more brash and i think Catelyn is more like that.

i never related so much to a character than him and i’ve been saying that since years. Being the Scapegoat and being constantly betrayed kills you over time inside and all that’s left is contempt and anger. And then you snap.

Just finished reading the first red rising triology and feel it too. Two deaths in the last book feels like a punch in the throat. And then it ends. Someone said it, but you'll NEVER get to grow up with these characters again. Never learn of their struggles or victories for the first time again. Never be surprised or rocked to your absolute core again. Eric church has a song that says it best, "you don't get to do somethings again." Looking at you mass effect, darling in the franxx, red rising, attack on titan, firewatch, etc

As someone who waited until after the fanfare to watch the show I actually really enjoyed the whole thing. I think the biggest critique of the show is not giving things enough time to breathe. Everyone is in such a rush to put time tables on shows without thinking about how long this stuff really takes or giving situations enough time to breathe. I think the second half of the show feels rushed, storylines aren’t fleshed out enough and given their due. It’s said there’s supposed to be a 5 year gap between season 4 and 5 and I think the show could’ve really used that time. Especially to explain the way the characters have changed while shooting.

Another thing to consider is the name Niel, it means fury and passion. The name wasn't just randomly picked.

I don't disagree with you there. It's the first thing that made me uncomfortable when I saw Piers Morgan was doing an interview. Too often survivors of SA are dismissed or ignored, however in a society of free speech, Fiona has a right to express herself. To be given the platform to express herself on national television for millions of views? Well, that's a different question. The view I tried to put out is that the interview helps no one. It's bad for Richard Gadd, it's bad for Fiona herself, it actively harms the point of the show, and the point that ridiculing those with mental health issues hinders (far more than it helps) preventing this kind of behaviour in others. I don't think Piers Morgan's interview is good for anything at all other than earning himself money

I’m an American who only saw this Savile character for the first time a few years ago when learning of this horror via KZfaq videos. This creature was so obviously disgusting and weird, based solely on his appearance, his body language and affected speech. I don’t understand the spell the British public was under to accept this nightmarish man as a cultural icon. I can say with confidence that in America, this pervert would have been completely rejected at all levels of society.

I've been binging your videos this weekend and I just want to say this was a great one. I really appreciate you doing something more "grounded" (outside of fiction) and how respectful you were about everything touched on by Alli. I'd also love to see some videos going into the psychology of football/sports, especially the negative and/or old phrases thrown around by commentators/journalists.

I don't think it was intentional, but I like this as a subversion of the "British politeness" trope in horror and comedy where a guy becomes more embroiled in a negative situation purely from a desire to do anything difficult or awkward. It starts out kind of this way with Donny unable to contend with someone like Martha who breaks all the social rules with no guilt, but as the story develops Donny has to confront his own negative tendencies, which I always find more interesting.

You give D&D WAAAAAYYYYY too much credit. The night king thing has to be a complete ass pull. They just retroactively fit it into that one cryptic thing Mel said to her. You think you’re missing the reason for it. You’re not. There is no reason for it.

32:00 that idea that malara was thinking above her station is especially backward because lord’s paramount maring there children to there lords children is how things normally work in Westeros, it’s actually very unusual for lords paramount children to marine other lord’s paramount children. So this was definitely all in Cersei’s head.

Normally I finish a video before commenting but, only 2 minutes in and I just have to commend you for the "This is a fictional character obviously we can't REALLY analyze her" disclaimer. It is all too common to let the obvious remain as assumed knowledge and I whole heartedly disagree with allowing it to go unaffirmed. I'm getting old I think but, little things like that mean something now. ¯\(°_o)/¯

Great recap, that said, it was briefly mentioned that’s it’s “boarderline unethical” for Jake to be dating Michelle. Also mentioned was it had been “a year and a half” since they were his patients”. Maybe enough time had lapsed to allow for an intimate relationship? My professional college puts a 2 year gap between patient to intimate partner relationships to be allowed.

Ned is not responsible for Caitlyn arresting Tyrion, catlyn trusting little finger, sansa running to cersei, robert making bad decisions like spending too much money and trusting the wrong people, robert basically handing his power to the lennisters by not ruling, but drinking. He is not responsible for catlyn influencing sansa to be arrogant and only care for being seen as a lady and demeanor certain people, because her mother was like that. He did not even want to be the hand, Caitlyn persuaded him. So, no ned was not stupid, he was surrounded by selfish people who put their own issues before everything else.

Imo a big part of Donny's character is that he refuses to be the victim and he'll hold on to any narrative that makes him in control. Because the men in his life are assertive and controlling, he feels that he is not up to par with what society expects or what he wants for himself. He would rather deny how he truly feels because being hurt is much more exposing than being numb. Even when he gains fame or feels accepted by society, he still can't accept that he was the victim. He rather blame himself for being a climber, hence the final episode.
