I know an even easier method to use, it’s called the 6 poles hack, it works on any road with street lights, count 6 lampposts (whether down one side of the road or on both sides of the road), if it’s anything different than 30mph you will see a small repeater sign within 6 poles, if you don’t see any repeater signs within 6 lampposts then the speed limit is 30mph.

When I was on my test I accidentally signaled right to pull away after reverse on the right manoeuvre, I’d wondered why the examiner was craning his neck out of his window! As no other road users I just picked up a minor. The examiner was laughing with my instructor after saying that was the first time he’d ever seen a candidate do that! I’ve never made a signalling error since that.

When i had my test before leaving the test centre the examiner said at some point on route im going to raise my hand and you've to do.an emergency stop . He did have places in mind and did check it was safe .not that i knew for sure. As soon as he raised the hand i slammed on the brakes. Then as i had only just had the emergency stop on the lesson just before test it was fresh in my mind about blindspot. Im honestly not a fan of how its done now. I know how i did it was cruel , but too me an emergency is dealing with the unexpected.

@GetWheelDriving3 күн бұрын
Glad you like it!! Don’t have a complete answer for that really it’s just something that my car being a Ford focus does. Having taught in diesels for years I was surprised my petrol behaved the same way. It maybe something to do with the fuel efficiency of these small engine petrol cars, but that’s a guess. Sorry I couldn’t enlighten you more! 🙌

Love this music 😂 Ro... when a pupil has bad habits, but won't listen to u when u try to tell them the correction...what's next?
@GetWheelDriving4 күн бұрын
😊🙌 To answer your question. It depends on the bad habits. Are they dangerous? If they’re not I’d note them maybe discuss with them the recommended methods but I wouldn’t push it too hard. Remember the test is assessed on Risk. If they’re causing a bigger problem we’d have to find out why they don’t think it’s a problem…Once you find that out, you might be more successful in tackling it with them. I hope that helps!!

Instead of thinking I need to get upto speed for where the car is middle lane hogging I guess just dropping back slightly then change lanes if they didn't change back and folow them then plan to change lanes and pass . Then personally I would hold back going into lane 1 until I can see there is no 1 joining from the slip or if there is just hold out till safe to come back into lane 1

Absolutely yes - there’s no need to bunch up. Space is needed first then progress. 👍

I learnt a lot! Particularly the country lane part. The other day I had a commiseration drive instead of the usual London test route drive because my test was cancelled and instructor took me to dual carriageways, roundabouts and country lanes I've never been to before (all outside of test route area). Got another test lined up and I'm looking forward to learn new roads. Keeping calm and carry on.

Nice examples of what to do when you have the wrong lane. Like you say things worked in your favour. The roundabout you had missed the signs. If i was in an area I didn't know I would most likely have a sat nav on and have a glance at that to get an idea what lane and where the junction is etc plus looking for road markings ands signs
