This man was probably borne in 1941, he was about 12 years old when I was station in Kadena AFB in Okinawa in 1953-1955. I wonder if he ever knew the following Judo and Karate Masters during those days. Mr. Yamakawa - Chief of Police in Naha and Mr. Ohama - Assistant Chief of Police, they started me in Judo then Mr. Tomasito - Judo Trainer of the police, Mr. Miyasato - Karate Trainer of the police trained me with their police officers during the weekends. I was the only American that received that privilege in those days because Mr. Yamakawa and Mr. Ohama took a liking to me being that I was the same height as them and very strong in those days, I was 22 years old, also I was very fast and quick to learn their Katas and movements. I trained with their police for a while during the weekends. It was tremendous and I learned the art of "maim or kill", which gave me knowledge of the weak points in a human's body and how to attack those points. It was scary but very interesting to learn. I am 93 years old today and I still do some Kata exercises in the mornings to keep fit and pray I never have to use what I learned on anybody. Those four gentlemen were the best in Okinawa in those years, I hope somebody remember them for I believe they might not be alive today because of their age.

I’m just curious how he gets graded as a 10th Dan or grandmaster and kiyohide Shinjo is only 9th Dan .? This a genuine question I have no knowledge of karate or any of these masters other than watching a couple videos in the past couple days, this is not about being a critic or rude , im genuinely interested in how it works. Thanks
