Rufus Hussey had it right your putting to much into it and ruining slingshot shooting Rufus called it a bean shooter you call it a catapult Rufus makes better bean shooters than your catapults you look like your shooting a bow and arrow I guess being the best at what you do everyone will take your words over mine congratulations

I have been shooting allsorts all my life and used to be pretty good at everything but have just taken taken up the hobby at age 86 (daft I know !!!) and straight away I am having a major problem. I shoot with my right hand holding the catapult in the gangster position. At 20ft all my shots are 10 inches to the right consistently, what should I do to correct this ? and be accurate, I check that the bands are in line but still shooting right. Can you help me please ?

Why not use a microwave to dry out the wood?
@CatapultCarnage
@CatapultCarnage 10 күн бұрын
The process of drying in the microwave is very sore on the wood. It can crack badly and weakens it

@@CatapultCarnage What about other ways of drying out wood in a quicker way like electric heat drying or dehumidifier drying?
@CatapultCarnage
@CatapultCarnage 10 күн бұрын
Typically any way you try to speed up the drying process can, and normally does end up splitting or cracking the wood. Infact they all crack slightly that's why you cut them longer than you need. I'm currently using a pop up green house but it still takes a few months unfortunately. There's nothing worse than drying out a nice fork quickly inside at a heat source and it spits and cracks so badly it can't be used

Had one when I was kid, back in the late eighties, great catapult at the time, everyone wanted one. The original bands that came with them were very tough and lasted forever if you looked after it and didn't let them dry out and crack. My friend was deadly accurate with one, he could hit and break things a hundred feet away that were just a couple of cm's in width (branches and the like) with consistency, you'd always find him on the field behind his house practising. We'd tear apart anything we could find on the local tip and scrapyard to get the ballbearings out of them, sometimes go down to the beach and spend a few hours collecting the smoothest most perfect sized pebbles we could find, also using some nice flat ones to skip them across the water in a way throwing them could never match. We also had a lot of fun and learnt a lot building our own catapults, so much pocket money spent on insulation tape and rubber bands from the local hardware and hobby store. Good days.

I grew up bow hunting, fishing, target and competition shooting with all sorts of bows...I would shoot at sports shows doing trick shots. Everything you talked about regarding aiming and shooting are exactly the same thing we taught for Archery. They are essentially the same sport, just different power factors. I just came across an old Daisy F16 that needed bands so I cut up some thera bands, tied them up and figured out an anchor point/sight line and was hitting paper plates at 20 yards after about 10 minutes...not every time but 6 or 7 out of 10. It's been over a decade since I've shot either but the techniques always stay the same. Great job and thanks for the refresher!

@@CatapultCarnage I love your way of makin' Catapults. One thing a special is ; comfortable feeling when you hold this Catapult and sharp angle on fork wich allows me to easy aimin, very simple but so many variations, well that last part is generaly for all slingshots/catapults. Enyway I love TITAN HUNTER. One day I will order companion if you can make them with a litle big mesaures? Like 95mm wide? 25mm tips,rest you adjusted to be proportional.. paracord...well we will talkin' about that when time comes. Cheers! Mr. Chris!
