Hey Nick, new to coons but I’m very interested in the lifestyle. I’ve bred and raised labs for duck hunting. Question: I’m in NW Montana, you mention getting them out in the woods, we have grizzly, black bear and big mountain lion here. We can run dogs to train and I intend on running them on black bear and mountain lion. Would you still take them out or run them a little closer given the risk in the mountains/woods here. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

They love dry cat food as well. I have a feral cat I feed so she doesn't kill everything in sight . What she doesn't eat the crows will. They'll wait in the trees till she walks away then swoop in. I'm backed up to my woods. The crows were going ape shit so I went in to see what was going on . They were attacking a hawk . Peanuts. Corn Cat food, bread.just get them on your property. If you feed them they will come

In most ways, i agree. However, it has also kept the sport alive to younger generations who may have not found it, if not for the sporty side of it. It's a two edged sword for sure. I do believe it has done more damage to the breeds than good.

Absolutely the worst advice I have ever heard as a coon hunter people. It is perfectly fine to use cage coons to get your puppy started. Do not listen to these guys.
