You should only use genuine OEM Ford CVT transmission fluid in the Freestyle and Five hundred CVT transmissions. Also you shouldn't use any of those snake oil Lucas products. There's a reason that only transmission fluid goes into a transmission and engine oil only goes into an engine. Don't use additives as they can actually cause more damage.

Observations (great video overall) Those "washers" that you didn't know what they were for and clipped them off? They are what holds the dust cover over the plate, which you ripped off leaving those still on. When you put it back on, the washers were discarded it's just a matter of time before it falls off while driving. Worst of all you removed the pan from the 62TE side wall and just placed it back on the tranny when done, no attention to making sure the gasket was still viable. After 150k miles I promise you it wasn't, and now it'll leak tranny fluid until she brings it back to you to pay for repairs you caused.

Hey thanks for watching! Thankfully none of that happened! I fixed a few other issues on the van over the next year she had it (she unfortunately got into an accident and it totaled out but thankfully she and Hers were unharmed and not at fault so upgraded). Never had any leaks, cover stayed in place, never had any complaints! New gaskets are always a good idea but aren't always needed case in point my 52' Chevy barn find..Sat since 83' , towed it home...simple tune up, fluid flush, carb rebuild and wiring fixes due to mice and ran great never leaked and had original gaskets (at least from 83' as I never changed em). Good rule of thumb to swap gaskets but as this is a "how to get back on road for minimal cost/tools for the average soccer mom" channel...I operate from the motto of "if it stays, it plays". Plus..with routine maintenance and operating temperatures gaskets don't degrade as readily as ppl think in my experience! Thanks for watching! And Happy Wrenching!

Use 3M dry silicone spray on the silicone rubber seals to aid reassembly. You will be amazed how smoothly they connect back together when the connectors are clean and lubricated. do not use dielectric grease this will collect dirt and push the seal out of place and allow water to corrode the terminals. Before disconnecting use water or windex to remove the dirt and mud from the weatherpack connectors and blow it off with compressed air. repeat if necessary because we all know how difficult they can be to disconnect when dirty. Don't forget the DRY SILICONE SPRAY before reassembly. I learned this from working at the ford dealership.

Spark plug gapper used wrong.. the little hole in the back is for opening the gap.. not complaining just pointing out, sometimes doing it that way ruins the plug... I'm guilty of doing it as well😂

2 questions....Are these shocks really that much better than the 2.5" stock shocks for normal driving? Also, if youare wheeling that rig, Why didn't you weld those shock perches?
@minutemaintenance7385
@minutemaintenance7385 17 күн бұрын
I did notice a small difference with on road driving with the new shocks, but my old ones were blown so that makes a big difference. I mostly upgraded for when I take it off road. I may weld them later when I add a bypass, but for now being bolted on is completely fine!

Haven't really thought about a follow up. I honestly think changing the passenger side lower plug might be easier now. They were smart enough to put a hole in the bracket so you can get to it.

There's a much better, faster, and easier way to fill the transmission fluid using a device that hooks up to an air compressor. It has a housing that looks like a clear whole house water filter housing. That's the best way I can describe it. Also, you can avoid all the mess on the floor by using one of those big plastic containers that are used for mixing concrete in. They're cheap and any big box hardware store has them.

Good morning Blessings, question every how many miles do I change the pulley or belt?
@minutemaintenance7385
@minutemaintenance7385 Ай бұрын
Pulley's typically get changed when they start to make noise, they aren't really a maintenance item. You'd have to double check your manual but I believe belts get changed at 150,000 miles. I did mine at 100,000 because they aren't too expensive, and I keep the old one in my truck in case something happens.

Thanks for the dip stick trick!!! My daughter's employer just bought a used 2016 Town and Country 2 weeks ago, with the 3.6L engine. He has let her use since; however, she says it keeps intermittently shifting hard and going into limp mode intermittently as she describes, along with the ubiquitous 172 and 175 codes. It's also throwing the generic P076A transmission codes. I don't know who prepped this car (even though it is the best detailed car I ever seen) but the transmission was grossly overfilled. I mean like it was at the equivalent of NOT 50mm, but literally "400mm". I can tell someone's been in the tranny as the sound deadening cover is missing from the side pan, and there is some weird white or light grey RTV on the lower pan. I think they did a drain but didn't measure how much came out and just added back the full total capacity not accounting for third or so that remains being. That along with filthy air filter and MAF. He had a shop that recommended he needed new O2 sensors, which he thankfully put off. I just cleaned the MAF, AF changed, and siphoned the extra trans fld out with a Harbor Feight hand pump. For less than $20 all back to normal. Again, thanks for the dip stick trick, never entered my mind.
