Paying ~ $7.00 /gal in Canada for Diesel. I'd also change that Idiotic Nozzle for a flexible one

I'm still using cans I bought over 30 years ago. They even have flexible nozzles. (Very useful for pouring into my motorcycle's fuel tank, as I can put the nozzle into the tank before I even start to tilt the can - no spillage on the bike's 45 year old paint! A rigid spout like this simply won't work.)

I much prefer the Leviton Edge series. The Leviton Edge are sleeker and better designed by having the levers on the side instead of adding more bulk to the back.

I've had to do this. And in some cases just take off the spout and pour gas using a funnel. The vent cap is easy to do. But it you don't have them, a drilled hole with a golf tee to close does the trick too.

I too share your sentiments about these cans , only I left the spring in and only removed the red locking tab. I kind of like resting the can on the rim of the gas tank to be filled and push down, but that’s just me thanx

some grease on the drill bit should help collect shavings, and maybe drilling upward, with the can being held upside down

Better solution: buy replacement spouts with screw on caps (for old cans, of course) and metal vents that resemble valve stems.

I went to tractor supply and picked up a kit that has a replacement nozzle and a vent that you can install on one of those impossible to use without spilling gas cans. Works great. Of course the caveat is that you’re not supposed to install it on a can manufactured after a certain date. So I didn’t, wink wink nod nod say no more.

Will it leak if it falls over without the spring tension, maybe cut the spring smaller

You are a life saver. I usually unscrew my nozzle and use a funnel to fill my mower. Using the nozzle over time I have fatigued and broken the plastic gas tanks in my mowers, which are NOT cheap to replace.

Thank you for this video I had no clue you could buy vent caps. I did have one of these new gas cans a few years ago and I think I just threw away the nozzle itself I don't know what happened to the filter inside maybe I yanked it out I'm not sure. Sometimes the government oversteps its boundaries with a gas can.

I would leave the flash back screen in for gasoline, it's actually a good thing and just what metal safety cans have, yes you have to fill the can slowly but the flash screen helps bad things from happening. the rest of the mods are excellent 👌

Using the new gas cans the brilliant politicians mandated for us to fill a rocking jet ski from a rocking dock is an absolute pain. I bet I spill more gas (and straight into the water no less) than I would have with the old style cans.

Sir, you have missed one more and biggest problem for me. Their main rubber seal is so thin that if you over tighten the cap or put any weight agains that nozzle, that seal rips and then it will leak 100%. Flimsy thin seal plus thin neck walls for that seal to push against and gets cut easily. Any good solution for that?

My experience: I take those new new-fangled caps and nozzles off. I throw the nozzle into the trash and replace it with one of the easy-pour nozzles one can find on eBay or Amazon. I take the cap and cut away the press tab or I just throw it too into the trash and use one of the replacement caps that comes with the easy-pour nozzles. I also use those "air-flow" devices (after drilling a hole) and put one into place. Now I can pour 5 gallons of gas into my auto in a very short period.
