It's bout time for another Hazy! This time around I wanted to try out a couple new methods, no chill and no boil, and a new (to me) Delta Brewing Stainless Steel fermenter. These methods are meant to save time and the fermenter should help with temp management. Let me know what you think!

Just tried something like this recently, very similar but with kveik! If you're using cosmic punch again, maybe try mash hopping to get those thiols unlocked! What's that whirlpool arm? Shirts look AWESOME!!

The whirpool arm came with my mash and boil when I bought it off Marketplace I'm not sure where they got it though 😣

I almost exclusively do no chill, straight to an ssbrewbucket. I do a short 30min boil with any bittering hops, but could probably change that to 15min without issues. With no chill, the wort stays hot enough to convert alpha acids for hours, so I'd consider any hot side hop addition to be a 60 for IBU purposes. I have had raw ales turn on me so I just don't risk no boil anymore, but bringing it up to 180 should be enough to pasteurize. Another issue with no chill is lack of oxygenation pre-pitch so I'm in the habit of setting 2L starter up on my stir plate just to get the yeast through the replication phase. I pitch through a stainless sanitized funnel stuck in the airlock hole to minimize exposure. I like dry hopping in the keg with a stainless capsule, but bags and magnets seem like a good way to go too! Cheers!

My only issue was lack of aeration I think. If I had pure oxygen that would've been perfect but I'm suuuppperrr happy with the final result. I'm glad that no boil / no chill are regular methods that seem to be tried and true!

@@JusBrewing Nice. I always say if it's working, keep doing it! I don't have O2 either, but the big starter sure does the trick for me, so give it a try!

I'm brewing a hazy this weekend and I think I might try the no boil, no chill method. Who doesn't want to shave off like 2 hours off the brew day? I think I'd use the time saved to make a started to be pitched the following day.

Your beer sounds fantastic. I’m a big fan of the no chill, but I’ve not tried the no boil. I’d often cut my boils to 30 minutes. That seemed enough time to achieve conversion, but I’ll be trying the no boil this year.

nice video bro. ive been curious about the no boil hazy ipa so glad to learn about it here. a buddy of mine brewed one but his beer tasted really raw and worty almost like some non alcoholic beers tasted. his mightve been old though by the time i tried it. did you get any weirdness in the maltiness / body of your beer?
@JusBrewing
@JusBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
Nothing noticable tbh. It was like any other beer I've brewed as far as I could tell. Like most (of my) hazy's this one was perfect after about a week in the keg and stayed that way for a couple weeks. It's got a little bit of bitterness now since some of the hop flavor/aroma has died down, other than that no discernable differences 🍻
@cdstackhouse

Great demonstration of the no boil process, that’s something I’ve been wanting to try myself! Just wondering, and apologies if it was noted in your video and I didn’t see it, but were you able to hit your numbers on your recipe, particularly the OG? 1.063 seems like it could be a little high for being pre-boil but certainly not impossible.
@JusBrewing
@JusBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
I didn't hit the expected numbers likely since I didn't boil any volume off and that may bother some folks but not me! Since it turned out how I wanted I've got no complaints

Great vid Jus!!! I’ve always had trouble with west coast IPAs but the NEIPAs I brew come out fine. Funny because I thought hazys were supposed to be harder than west coasters?

@@JusBrewing Looks delicious!!! My west coasters always have this weird grain flavor, next time I brew one I’m just using 2 row and maybe a little Carapils to see if maybe it’s just the grain bill I can’t nail?

I tried to do something between a hazy ipa and a hazy pale ale a while back doing the raw ale method. I used an inkbird sous vide and it went well. But I wasn't careful enough when transferring for my bottling day and oxidized it. I'm gonna give it another go and do a keg fermentation and use the co2 from primary to purge a second keg for an oxygen free transfer. Just gotta figure out how to do a dry hop in a keg without overdoing it. May put a magnet inside the hop back so that I can pull the hops up and out of the beer after a couple of days and let them hang out inside the keg.
@JusBrewing
@JusBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
I've done something similar, shouldn't be an issue if your magnets are strong enough to hold the hops after they've absorbed beer. Take every precaution you can go avoid oxidation, hazy's are super prone to it so don't feel too bad! Good luck 🍻🍻
