Aside from the artistic liberties, there are 4 main plot points that depart from the Biblical texts: 1. Biblically the pharaoh of the plagues was not named would would have historically been Amunhotep II, was not first born, and was not necessarily step brother to Moses as his relationship is unclear. 2. Moses met Zephora at the well when she and her sisters were being bullied by the men. 3. Moses would have been 40 years old when he left Egypt and 80 years old when he came back. 4. Jews were never mentioned as building the pyramids.

Born and raised non conventional Christian here. This movie is a Beautiful adaptation of scriptures. Dreamwork took time to study different religious writings for this film. I feel that even if you're not religious this is a movie that can be enjoyed by anyone. It's just that beautiful. Fun fact: Dreamwork was working on the Prince of Egypt at the same time as Shrek. They would use Shrek as a PUNISHMENT by sending people to go work on that instead.

Same as kid i didn't like he didn't get the girl. Now i an adult i realizes it that's a really bad mentality it treating Ezmeralda as a price and kinda of toxic masculinity mentality. He accepted her choice and was happy for her unlike Frollo who tried to force her feelings

So, I know this video was posted 2 years ago, but I am new to your channel. This was fun, just like the other videos of yours I have recently watched. I noticed you mentioned that episode of Glee with Mr. Shu wanting to put on the Rocky Horror Picture Show wanting to impress his crush. Did you know that the two men who came to the school to stop it and are vocally against it were Barry Bostwick( Brad) and Meatloaf. ( Eddy)? Those two were the reason I loved that episode. They had me laughing so hard.

It makes me sick to know that there are actually freaks out there who find Frollo "attractive/sexy". 😖🤮 He's an evil, disgusting, perverted, cruel, old bigot! There's NOTHING attractive about him! *Also I noticed that Djali (Esmarelda's pet goat) is a male, and since Hugo (the Jason Alexander) has a crush on Djali....that basically makes Hugo a Gay character (and in the sequel, thim & Djali became somewhat of a couple). Yeah, [Hugo] is still not a favorite character of mine.😕

i love how the "side character/bestie" is more than just being a filler. they really compliment each other. like donkey, his overly animated and non stop jaberring actually help shrek to open up and feel like he is a sentient being and not just "filthy stinky ogre" and perrito creates a safe place for puss for being vulnerable while be completely safe.

BA Egyptology student jumping in (a year late, but oh well) ancient Egypt did indeed have slaves, but slaves did not build the pyramids (or temples). For the pyramids, they used a corvée/conscription system in which people gave a certain amount/time of labour towards the project during the inundation (when farmers had no work to do), and in return would either pay no taxes or less taxes on what they farmed. Slaves were mostly used to farm land (such as those owned by temples) and domestic settings.

Hello, first time viewing your channel. This was a fun review of Thumbelina. I loved this as a kid. I recently watched another childhood movie that I am not sure a lot of people remember. Have you heard of Rock-A-Doodle? It's a trip. I don't want to give too much away, but I will say this. There is a freaky owl who scared me as a kid and creeped out my five year old when we watched it. ( I had forgotten about him when I watched the movie with kiddo. Oops)

I grew up Obsessed with this movie to the point I still own the original box set trilogy. It will forever be a guilty pleasure of mine and a complete watch alone. (For embarrassment reasons) What's funny to me is that even as a child I HATED Derek so much because he's a complete dumb nut amongst other things. Odette deserved so much better than that. Also my favorite character in all three movies (aside from Odette) is Uberta. My God that woman is hilarious!

You saying “but still” to zendaya asking if they could see the Queen because they weee black is pretty dismissive. Black people having to check and verify where the could and could not go or were willing or not willing to attempt to go under the very literal threat of death was very prevalent before the world you grew up in existed.

I think Jacquimo didn't just fly her there because he is a bit of a “bird-brain.” This is why we see him doing a bunch of stupid, dangerous things to find the Vale of the Fairies. If he knew where it was, he would just take her there. Until he figured it out, he was a bit hyper focused on just finding the Vale. This is the reason that he never really seems to be listening to Thumbelina, and why he keeps leaving her in dangerous places. If he were listening, he could have just brought her home at least. Instead, he is more focused on Thumbelina finding her destiny and being with the prince than actually keeping her safe. And Thumbelina is a bit too docile to just demand he take her with him.

Listen , I don't think the movie is bad but it's just not a movie that in any way resonates with me . I missed every emotional beat of the story because the whole movie just looks like a luxurious vacation I never got to have . I am 17 and my gourney with my sexuality and just overall has been much rougher and so much deeper but also without sex and everything . Honestly this movie is basically the opposite of my life .

I’ve read all 10 books - got into them because of the movie. The movie is a bit sweeter and romanticised; the books are funnier and sarcastic. They got pretty much the essence of most of the characters pretty well, especially from the first two novels. I think the two characters who differ the most from book to movie adaptation would be Ellen and Dave. They are both given a bit more time to shine in the books; Ellen has a problem where she trips over her words and says “you know” a lot (if I remember correctly); and Dave is funnier, has more charisma and he and Georgia like each other more. But some of these facets are shown more as the series goes on. The movie, despite losing some plot threads, is a great adaptation of the first two books. You also have the difference where the books are written in a diary format, so not only is Georgia narrating her life and moments of it in random bursts but it can also be slightly (a lot lol) unreliable. Once you realize this, that’s kind of what makes everything funnier at times, because you think of certain scenes from others or a non biased pov and realize how nutty Georgia actually is. Rosie was always my favourite. Her and her partner were fucking hilarious.
