The popping sound out of the exhaust is caused by more engine breaking ,factory engine gearing is way to high so there is little to no engine breaking when you throttle off.

89 seat height, not 85. Just bought my second. I am 167 cm. No problem. Just add an extra shoe sole in your boot and you’ll be fine. The bike does’nt weight so much. Best bike I ever had.

Standard sprockets? And do you need to disable ABS or just the TC is enough? :)

You shouldn't lose your warranty for servicing it, maintaining it elsewhere...once you start altering the bike maybe...I never go to a dealer, I've worked at a few dealers, there's always a 40% uplift on any business you do with them, always go private 👊🏼
@Mcfc2Rich

This goes with any dealership for cars or bikes.. I've worked in a £40,000,000 BMW dealership, and seen better service in a backstreet garage. I've got mates who worked in a £100,000,000 mercedes building near me with a massive spinning Merc badge on the roof. Never be fooled by that, all that glamour is to sell bikes / cars, the service is often worse because those companies pay their staff peanuts.

My limited understanding of supermotos is they are an after thought. Definitely cool and fun machines but overlooked by manufacturers in terms of quality and endurance. Adding insult to the injury, they are over priced too. I had a 2018 DRZ and I lost the engine in 11 month because a $11K (AUD) even doesn't bother to have a low oil warning light. It was fun for the 5000 KMs I rode it but was never trusty and the experience of owing it was much more expensive in 11 months compared to my BMW S1000 RR race edition in 46 months. I am considering a KTM or GasGas supermoto these days but I don't want another expensive, annoying experience over a bike again. KTM seems to deliver unfinished products case in point is their G3 Duke 390. I was at a dealer last month to buy one so I asked can have the low seat, engine and lever guard (as per KTM has announcement and website photos) but dealer couldn't find them in power parts and even calling their distribution center provided no info but ETA unknown. I was wondering why KTM wasted my time and showing me photos of a none existent product?

Yes. Almost the same with mine 2020. First slave cylinder of clutch (changed by warranty with new repair kit, and broke in few days again. So I went to the nearest autoshop and find fuel/oil/brake oil resistant oring for 0,5$. No problem for 3 years) 2nd is blackening REAR brake fluid(just changed it by myself for 3 times in one month with one from my car and no problem still then) 3rd. Front brake squeaking. It happened after few track days and possible caliper overheating (have 690ENDURO with set of 17th sumo wheels, and enduro brakes) Nothing do with that. Just disassembled caliper and checked everything was good) So not a big problems. But was a bit disappointed facing them for the first time. Good if KTM corrected all of them with new facelift. Heard the last ones (2022+) have even worse situation with low power on low revs because of euro 5 or 6. So want to remove all the “green stuff “ from my bike and looking for any good muffler not casting 500+))

Sell your 690 you're not worthy.. oh and by the way turn in your man card and your wheelie card that you stole because you can't do a wheelie . You do not speak for the supermoto community stop telling lies because you are disappointed in your own purchase. You thought I'll buy a 690 then I'll be able to do wheelies everywhere and you still can't do it because you don't have the balls it's not the motorcycles fault Your next video should be five reasons why I don't have the skills I wish I had..

Took over a year for my dealer to get me a replacement clutch slave, in the meantime if failed. I replaced it with a Rekluse one. Have not had any issue with brakes, but I do flush fluid twice a year.

This is a specific purpose bike not intended to use as a multi-purpose tool. It's made for short fun rides, nothing more nothing less. If you have other bikes, no intentions of touring, off roading, or hanging out with your Harley friends, this is a play bike like no other. If people don't understand this then they shouldn't even be looking at a super moto, period.

right, but whis is not a real supermoto. the real ones are offroad 450s and 500s with a sumo kit. those are NOT meant for touring AT ALL. with the 690 you can do everything

its not about the exterior design. its about their different engine. 450s are meant for the track: lighter and lot of maintenance. 690s and 701s are for the streets and act like a normal street bike

Whaat ? I have not seen the whole video yet, but 15T front sprocket is standard from factory on my KTM 690 Enduro and I run a 13T front sprocket on mine but also had to add a 50T rear sprocket so that the chain would not fck with the bike. I think the 690 Supermoto has like a 16T in the front but I could be wrong ? But 15T would not make the bike go bad at all. You would only have to adjust the chain a bit probably for that small change. After my bigger rear sprocket and smaller front sprocket my bike tops out at around 99MPH/160km/h but it is really worth it, the acceleration and power comes really early on compared to the stock power comes on really high on these bikes.

The 2019 and later models with the balancer shaft top end does not have the rocker issues! They screwed it up. My engine blew at 1700 miles warranty voided. So I had to pay. Now at 3650 miles the cam shaft is knackered. I believe it’s oil starvation issues. KTM don’t want to know! Your KTM dealer demonstrated complete incompetence. Why would you have to pay for their mistakes? So it should’ve been free! The mobility\breakdown service is included with your warranty. They weren’t doing you any favours!

I alway's upgrade all the crap part on every bike I own, on my 690 enduro R 2021 I've changed the clutch slave, upgraded to a pro shift kit, rottweiler intake and fuel dongle, power commander 6 and a tune, arrow exhaust, water pump and thermo and put liquid ice radiator fluid, steering damper... The bike runs fantastic, no jerkiness and doesn't run hot at all. Next I'm changing the fuel pump to a quantum and the bike will be perfect. The jerkiness problem is that euro 5 that choke the bike and run them to lean and to hot for the catalytic converter work better hot. I worked in different shops for different brands and it's all the same, I had a tiger 900 rally pro and they had all the same issues.

Some of these reasons are a bit precious. Pity the poor souls that can't handle a bike without pillow seats and a built in coffee holder for their soy lattes. I'm 6'2" and have taken a 390 DUKE across the country with the stock seat. SMC R is taller with a wider rear wheel so it can ONLY be more comfortable than the Duke over long distances. And you can always convert to Enduro.

I bought a 690, new, in 2019, never had any issues except a leak on one leg of the front fork, i changed the fork seals myself for a very small cost, other than than nothing at all and i use my bike almost every day. Buy the way i never changed the brake fluid and it is still clear ! Fantastic bike.

I’m looking to get 2023 now. I could swing a bargain I believe. The 2024 is all revamped. I have had a triumph speed triple, a triumph Daytona 675r and loved those. I currently have a 2008 ktm 990 duke. I was in between bikes and I picked it up used. I love the ktm torque, a ktm will be my next new bike. The 790 and 890 dukes are great and a true do it all bike. More power then I will use at 58 years old. I had a bad experience buying the 990 used and have had to put money into it. So I’m going to stay new and get the 2 year warranty. My thoughts are to have enough power and light weight for the twisties and be able to do the freeway at 65-75mph, 80 mph to maybe pass some one. And not much freeway riding at all. Can I ride the freeway at 70mph easy. I’m intrigued by this 390. Can it do the twisties 60-65 mph or is it at its limit, meaning straining. I don’t have the skill to do the twisties at 65mph unless I’m in a straight stretch between cures anyway. I was also looking at the 390 duke as a bike I could improve my skills. There are a lot of classes to take where the instructors actually ride bikes like these. These guys on KZfaq and such. It as I talked about the past bikes I had. I don’t want to get something that can’t comfortably do up to 80mph even if it’s just for a minute or so. I don’t need do 100mph, it’s a ticket and my wife will shut me down!
