Scott Stapp sorta clung to the Scott Weiland/Grunge/Eddie Vedder/Kurt growl because it sounded cool at the time, and the kids were all "hip to it" (probably when their parents were taking away their cassettes and telling them to listen to something more 'Christian'. For the time! And he probably decided that's where the jackpot was, THAT is how he needed to sound to relate to the younger generation. But what an absolute FARSE!
