The sooner the Celtics accept that Luka's going to get his 30 point triple double no matter what they do, the better off they'll be. Just put a decent defender on Luka, don't even think about doubling him, and try to guard the pick and roll as best you can and close out on the 3. That's as good as your defense is getting. The thing we learned this season... it doesn't really matter who's guarding Luka. Luka played the same whether being guarded by Paul George, Kyle Anderson, Rudy Gobert, Ivica Zubac, Holmgren, Harden, Shai, Russ, "The Dorture Chamber', Anthony Edwards,etc... If you've got a Decent and reasonably sized guy on Luka, he's going to do Luka things anyway. The goal is to put the worst defender on Luka that you can get away with and prevent everyone else from getting dunks and 3's. Easier said than done, I know... but THIS SERIES is going to be won on OFFENSE. Luka's going to get his. Kyrie's gonna get his. The question is... who's going to win the paint battle, and who's going to win the 3 battle. If Boston can win both of those by a decent margin, they will win. If they don't The Mavs will win. That's why I consider Porzingis to be the x factor of this series. In the post, he might be too long for Lively and Gafford... or... he might be too skinny At the 3, he will either be completely unguardable... or... he might be the guy you dare to take 3's because he's laying bricks. The Celtics have a chance to run away with this thing if Porzingis is 100% and he has a good shot diet. If not, the Mavs could play him off the floor like they did KAT. The series could go either way, but I think we already know what we're going to get out of Dallas.It's the Celtics who are the big question mark.

The Energy that Luka and Kyrie are going to have to Expend, to Defend Those 7, is Going to Effect How Success They are Offensively. One, if not Both of Them, will get in Foul-Trouble, and Frustrated. The only thing I would say, that Celtics-Mavs matchup you're referring to doesn't really tell us anything. The Mavs had JUST massively changed their rotations (losing Grant Williams and Holmes, adding PJ and Gafford, Kyrie coming back from injury). During that stretch they went 1-5 while figuring out the new rotations and chemistry and it was also the 4th game of a 4 game road trip. I don't think you can reasonably take anything from that game.

Luka made the top defense in the NBA all season, some saying one of the best ever defensive teams in the Wolves look mid as hell. So mid now people act like they weren't all that good anyway lmao.
