Tried mine out. Had two good sales which I wouldn’t have had without this machine. It is wonderful. Easy to use with the app and worked brilliantly. There was no need for all that panic! Cant wait to use it again.

Can anyone advise about the Identification Process please 🙏 Thank you for sharing this. I just purchased my machine today ,for my Art Business. I have Signed up and downloaded the app,I've uploaded my driving license and now it's saying My account is not active yet as they need to verify my ID which could take a few days?? Maybe it's because it's Friday evening..I'm not sure..I was really hoping to have it up and running for weekend too. Any advice appreciated.🙏🍀

As this is handling money - I would suggest SumUp treat all new members just as a bank would. They should have sorted the ID by now - if not send them a message from the app and I am sure they will sort it.

Ive had mine set up for a few montha now, and it has th wrong bank account information in m sum up app for some reason? I havnt been able to receive my purchasea for the past 2 months already ans its hard to get a hold of the support team for help. It says in thr app that there hasnt been any pay-out transactions since. And theres a super high security chck the whole time i was setting my account up, so its concerning to see the wrong bank info.

This is not much help if you only have a pay-as-you-go phone contract, as Bluetooth or wireless will eat the credit in no time. :(

Hi John, this might be a good point, but I only have a smarty pay monthly, with only 4gb and I have plenty for what I use the device with. As a note I sell my books at events and will always find a local WiFi to use if I can, which does save my data. But alas with any payment device, brand or bank the user must have access to the internet (for live transactions). I hope this helps.

Good item. For a charity having O% tax is great and it sends regular reports to the treasurer and pays automatically to PayPal or bank account.

You're welcome. Great fun doing it (even though it was a few years back) but the device remains the same and still works perfectly. They always put out updates to the software and there have been a few tweaks to the website but essentially it is still all the same. Hope you find it as useful as I do!

Hi Mark, since this video SumUp are now offering a free and paid for service. So in a nut shell, if you do not want to pay for the monthly use (as you may only use the device on a few occasions) they charge 1.69% (or 1.49% when using the SumUp Business Account to receive your payouts). But if you pay £29 a month it goes down to 0.99% and they even offer a 'negotiated rate' (not sure what that may be) for £49 a month.

I'm based in the UK, but the website has an European link so they do sell them in the EU. My best guess is yes it does, but you might want to check with sumup Europe just to be sure

Thanks for your informative guide. I just purchased one but want to know as I’m just starting out and plan to attend a Xmas fair but not registered as a business yet (hoping to do so in the future) as I’m no where near the required threshold - more of a testing platform for me at the moment. If I link a personal bank account will the buyer see my personal name on their transactions or is what you indicated with the “caveman reviews” is where you set up a “business name” and that is what would show up as transaction? Also, if I decide to switch to their business account and request for a card, will this be possible in the future?

Yes to all, but no to personal details. The best thing I did was to set it up, and then made myself as my first customer (for £1) and I then saw what my customers saw, and it recycled back into my account. Only my business name, which I changed to make it look better, so it was worth a few pennies for that transaction.

Thanks so much for explaining this, at the moment I'm with Worldpay, I'm a small business and find the monthly costs are a burden especially in quiet months where I might not use it for days on end, however with my Worldpay terminal it connects thru my analogue phone line but I really don't want to stump up for internet each month, just so I can take cards, so hopefully being able to use sumup online with my android and 4 g will illuminate the need to outlay for that too ...thanks for simple clear demo.

Hi. Its 2 year on from this, im wondering if you still like sumup? Any problems you've encountered? Im looking to get something to help my business but all the fine print can be mind boggling and looking at reviews online i see a lot of people complaining this year. As someone who has one and using it well i was wondering if you had any insights to the test of time with this product and company. Also is there a fee for closing the account? I can't seem to see anything about exit details

Hi, for me it still works exactly as I need it too. Sporadic use, get it out, tap and pay and the money is in my bank. I personally have never had a problem with it and I am still very happy with it. To note the online dashboard has changed a little since this video, but nothing worth mentioning. If anyone asks, I still highly recommend it. I hope this helps and good luck, it is an amazing step to take, being able to take card payments in today's cashless society.

I can only vouch for UK bank accounts, and yes any account can be added. All you need is the sort code and account number.

Although I have never used it - and you may need to check, I believe this can be done by using the Repeat Payment feature. Apparently you set up an invoice online (for whatever amount you think it should be) from SumUp help page; Log in to your SumUp profile using a web browser and select "Invoices" in the left hand menu. Choose "Invoices" and then "Recurring". Click the blue "New Recurring Invoice" button. Customise the schedule, specifying the start date, frequency and end date of your recurring invoice. Hope this helps.

Not on the SumUp device, but you can direct people to your SumUp (online) shop and they make a payment direct to your shop - rather than you take the cash. This is handled by the system and your customer, without you needing to use a dead phone? Only a suggestion?

There are a huge number of people who don't even carry cash anymore. Even if cash is still king, it's suicide for a small business to not have a card reader and deny themselves customers who don't carry cash. Especially after covid hugely reduced the number of people who carry cash.

Cash is good, but I find that no one ever carries it. So to stop the loss of a sale, this is why I have got a card reader. It helps prevent people walking away without paying for something.

I am sure you can - but as I do not have a Revolut business account (I only have a personal one) I would not like to be 100% certain. All you need are the account details, for the money to be paid into, so if you have those on the Business Rev account then I am sure it will work fine.

You say its connected to the bluetooth on the phone, Do you also have to have the wifi data switch on too. My Phone Contract isn't unlimited Data whilst out and about.

Hi Sharon, the actual SumUp unit is a 'dumb' terminal and has to be connected to a 'smart' device (such as a phone or tablet) via bluetooth. The actual working and the taking of cash is ran live time on the smart device, to do this it has to be connected to the internet (whether W-Fi at an event space, or by the devices data). For me I have a 4Gb monthly usage on my phone and I have never gone over that whilst using this device. I hope that helps?

Hey Jude. Not quite sure why or what you are asking.. This is a genuine business tool, you will need to have a genuine business address (even if it is your home address) as it has to be traceable and your customers have to have some info about your company. But just like any good card reader company, you can change it if you move or have a change in circumstances. Hope that answers your question?
